You know... A lot of them really suck. Which makes sense as to why they're not to famous yet. I don't just mean bands like Down and Otep, they are alright... Which makes even more sense, considering they were on Ozzfest. This is insired by an Extreme Rock show on MTV2 last night. I saw Down on a commercial during it and they were talking about rock so I was like "Ok, cool." and watched on and some of those bands seem like they are just trying WAY to hard to be really, really evil and demonic.

Your post pissed me off man. When you said "underground metal bands", I thought of underground bands in general, which made me remeber I was SUPPOSED to go to a show tonight at the rally ally (a "garage" near me where mostly punk and ska bands play), which made me remember that one of my favoritest bands were playing there tonight, "Corpus Christie" and I can't ****ing go. ****. I'm so pissed off. Anywayz, about what the subject was supposed to be about.....Ya, I agree.

I heard Down several years ago and thought they were really good. I know that Phil Anselmo from Pantera is in the band and
so are some of the guys from COC, and they came out with their second album recently and were in Ozzfest. Are they as good as they say they are?? I hear they're supposed to have this Sabbathy vibe...

I'll have to ask my friend about them live. She was at Ozzfest. So now I hate her. I mean, a band is only as good as it's live show... From the non live stuff I've heard they're pretty good.

Are those the Scandinavian "Satanic" death metal bands that made headlines several years ago with church burnings and murders? I remember names like Euronymus and a current band Dimmu Borgir that's actually supposed to be pretty good.

They were either supposed to be, as they told everyone, or at least adopted this pseudo-pagan Nordic god worship thing that was opposed to Christianity. They were all supposed to be evil and all that, some members actually murdered other members of other bands and gays, etc. So there was a "satanic" crime wave going on in Norway for a while. Even though Satan is a Christian concept, these bands were officially black metal or Satanic metal, in spite of their "pagan' leanings. I wrote to a girl in Sweden who told me a bit about that. They were Satanic because they (the bands) said so; "you can't be truly into death metal unless you're into Satan." (True quote from one of them. Forgot who...)
