They don't block it because it's actually a "not secure" site.

The http version automatically redirects to the https version. The site is secure.

They probably aren't using an automatic redirect/rewrite from Cloudflare or in their .htaccess file.

Sometimes when I goto the http side its blank but other times it works....

They have a nice looking site :)

Sometimes I get "EMPTY REPLY FROM SERVER" when I try to goto the HTTPS side thru a proxy....

Something isnt right on thier site......

This is why sites should not try to have SSL on sites that do not really need it like thiers!!

Oh, OK. I thought Safari also auto-redirected if it was secure. But I definitely got the Not Secure message.

This is the "new" https version --

My guess is the other, Not Secure version, shouldn't still be "out there."

The internet is not private Stevie!!!

Dont believe the BS,dont drink the Koolaid buddy!!

There is no reason for sites that dont need encryption TO BE SSL!!!!!!

The only people who benefit from that are people that want to track us like google!!

EDIT:

That link you posted also does not block http,I can get to it directly on IE6 :)

http://safe.sur.ly/o/nyradioarchive.com/AA000014

As I should be able to!! (They dont need Forced SSL)

EDIT2:

Thats not the same site I posted!!

No one ever said the internet was private. It might be more private if google was not so pervasive.

Good - glad you're able to get to the newer version.
