(warning: certain YouTube comments might appear to their creators, but not to any other YouTube user (even very pleasant and helpful comments might not appear to any other YouTube user))

(suggestion: no more comment sections on YouTube; have YouTube only provide private messaging and electronic mail/e-mail (address) options as ways of contacting other YouTube users)

Maybe take that up with YouTube/Google. I’m not sure what you expect the Sitcoms Online staff or community to be able to do about it.

Personally, I like the YouTube comment system the way it is. On one of my videos, I have word filters turned on in the comments. Not curse words, because I don’t care about that, but politically charged, inflammatory terms. That particular video, from the immediate aftermath of 9/11 featuring a ton of celebrities singing “America the Beautiful” during a telethon, drives a cohort of people to politicize an event that’s sacrosanct to me and should never be sullied with divisive politics. Once I added the word filters, I was able to stop babysitting the comment section of that video. If anyone uses one of the words I put in the filter, they’re just screaming into a void, as their comment is visible to only them

To me, the YouTube comment system is an A-

It sounds like you have been shadow banned or placed in the moderation queue. Maybe some channels think you are a bot because of the way you leave comments.

AI Overview

A YouTube shadowbanned comment means you can see your own post, but it is invisible to everyone else. This happens either automatically through YouTube's spam-filtering algorithms (triggered by excessive links, emojis, or repeated words), or manually when a channel's creator or moderator hides your comment to filter their community.

How to Check If You're Shadowbanned
Leave a comment on a video, open an Incognito window or log out of your account, and navigate directly to the video. If the comment doesn't appear under the video's comment section, it has been hidden.

(note: very anti-social, wrongful, and unfair if true (especially without any kind of warning just for posting nice and helpful comments without any vulgar (or profane) language))

(suggestions: resist posting in any YouTube comment section, encourage other computer users to resist doing so also, contact YouTube or Google employees about the suggestions mentioned in first posting of this topic)

Mario, it’s not some grand conspiracy. Your writing style is borderline illegible, and your constant, schoolmarmy lectures on “vulgarity” are exhausting. People don’t hide your comments because they’re “anti-social”; they hide them because they’re tedious to read. Maybe start there.

The only thing I don't like about the comments section is the random order. I'd like to see them newest to oldest.

(suggestion: search for a "Sort by" feature near any (YouTube) comment section to make at least two comments appear in order from the newest one to the oldest one from the top of that section to the bottom of that section))

(another realization: even posting helpful advice about vegetarian/vegan food and sugar-free food in YouTube comment sections could result in getting "shadow banned" (or the advice not being seen by other YouTube users))

Mario500, you used to write like a human being. Why are you unable or unwilling to do so now? It might help your cause when it comes to shadow banning.

(answer: shyness and banishment from other forums just for being nice and helpful)

Reminder to posters: there's really no rule that dictates writing style on this site. I'd suggest we concentrate on content of the post, not the punctuation used.

I’m really sorry to hear that. I can relate. I’m pretty shy in real life too, and I know how isolating that can feel. I’m also on the lower end of the autism spectrum, which sometimes makes social situations and online interactions a bit tricky. I often find that the version of me online and the version of me in person have different levels of comfort around people.

Part of me hopes you’re able to heal and find spaces where you feel safe and understood. And another part completely understands the instinct to protect yourself after being hurt; that’s a very human response.

Please take good care of yourself. You deserve kindness and understanding.

Thank you. You've eloquently reminded us that we can never know any given poster's personal situation.

You’re welcome. And I’m truly sorry if I, in any way, contributed to any of the toxicity. One thing I’ve learned about myself in the last decade or so is that I can come off as abrasive when I don’t mean to. I’m working on it, but sometimes I miss the forest for the trees.

Be well, Mario500, and keep doing what makes you comfortable and happy.

(one more solution: all Facebook comment sections could be hidden too (along with those of sites similar to Facebook) through a certain Internet browser extension named Adblock Plus (https://adblockplus.org/))
