And the fact Zodiac alone didn't get his own segment, had to be shared with the Unibomber. What a shame.

That's a very fair question, and one that I'm surprised I never considered until you asked it.

At the same time, it would have just been more pointless regurgitation, anyway. While such a segment getting the full, classic UM treatment would be of huge benefit to the people who find great value in getting scared from watching, I don't think there would have been any ultimate benefit in solving the mystery.

Perhaps the one thing that may have been of great value is if the UM team miraculously secured interviews with the survivors.

I may be remembering wrong, but I recall reading that law enforcement was heavily resistant to the UM crew covering the story thinking it might compromise the investigation. When it was obvious they weren't going to solve it they slowly relented.

It could also be because this was around the time UM started to jump the shark and went from mostly obscure cases to ones that the general public were well aware of.

I don't think we should worry too much about Z not getting the thing he wanted most - attention. I also think UM may have been waiting for a juicy angle to take on it (Kaczynski's arrest) and/or for ALA to die.
