I'm glad the pilot episode was located and included on the DVD set because it's one of the funniest half hour sitcom episodes I've seen.

The pilot is titled "Olive's Present", this is the episode where the family goes out to purchase a new toilet. A hilariously funny episode, great from start to finish, lots of funny and snappy dialog going on, jokes and one-liners are in abundance. All the actors are in top notch form and give superb performances.

While there's other good episodes during the series brief, one season run, the pilot episode might actually be the best one of them all.

Possibly because of Dom, also because it's actually a pretty good show. Seems to me that NBC gave up on it too quick and didn't give it enough of a chance to find an audience.

S'more Entertainment is the company that released Lotsa Luck on DVD. They also released a DVD set of another one season sitcom, Good Morning World, from 1967-68.

I like the show but it seemed to run like a play instead of a sitcom. I wish we got more character development of the family instead of just Dom. The family was just background noise with quick lines.

It dont look like it made them that nervous because that episode aired on oct 1, 1973 and the last airing was in march

I think the main reason for Lotsa Luck getting cancelled is that the show just didn't draw in enough viewers. Even when NBC moved Lotsa Luck to Friday night and aired it after Sanford And Son, Lotsa Luck still finished behind the competing shows on the other two networks.

Having said that, I still think NBC was a little hasty in cancelling Lotsa Luck. I would have liked to see it renewed for another season in 1974-75, maybe it would have found it's audience then but we will never know.
