My apartment looks like December 24th at Macy's! Barnabas1 12-03-2002, 06:12 PM Originally posted by SPLAIN Bringing DOWN Christmas decorations? God are we in January already? Mickey 12-03-2002, 07:21 PM Grr. no mention of Christmas allowed until December 20th! :) Say, is Thanksgiving really like it is on TV? Do Americans really sit around the dinner table telling each other what it is that they're grateful of? Always wondered, oddly. ~LadyJess~ 12-03-2002, 10:32 PM Originally posted by Mickey Say, is Thanksgiving really like it is on TV? We watch the Lions game and then go my uncle's and we all eat but at a couple of tables, not around a big round one and we just talk really loud and joke, we don't say what we are thankful for. SPLAIN 12-04-2002, 12:03 PM You'd HATE my place Mickey, put up the Christmas stuff mid November and it doesn't come down till the second week of January, EVERY square foot is filled with trees and lights and decorations everywhere, i'm going to start playing all the Christmas specials soon and all the Christmas show episodes of all my favorite shows, OH, IT'S BEGINNING TO LOOK A LOT LIKE CHRISTMAS. . . . Same here!;) Mickey 12-05-2002, 01:15 PM I don't hate Christmas decorations necessarily, especially in a house that has kids (except for the dead tacky kind). I do find that I enjoy Christmas more if it's just Christmas that gets celebrated, though, and not the whole damn month! SPLAIN 12-05-2002, 03:37 PM Well, it's like this, it's my all time favorite time of the year, it's the only time when people here who trudge through a six month winter, actually have a smile on their faces, it's the ONLY part of winter i like, so i WANT it to LAST a long time, of course, you're absolutely right, by the end of December, i can't wait to take the stuff down, as i'm so sick of it. But i'm a Christmas nut, drive along streets of lighted houses, invite everybody over for wine and buffet foods, plenty of desserts amid mountains of gifts for everybody and decorated like it was the Christmas section at Harrod's department store. Got it? Lucy first, then Christmas! But, hey, that's just me! And if you think i ramble here, you should see me at the office Christmas party, a few drinks and i REALLY have the spirit! lucyfan1983 12-05-2002, 04:19 PM haha, claude, you crack me up! Christmas is my favorite time of the year as well. :) SPLAIN 12-06-2002, 12:26 PM Last weekend, i took fifty bucks in dollar coins to give out to the beggars on the streets downtown, that alone makes me feel good, everything about this time of year, people are more giving and considerate, i just love that feeling and wish it were around every week of the year! The depression i get thinking about those people sleeping in a shelter or even outside is offset somewhat by the look on their faces when they see the coins, and i always exchange long looks, they're used to people looking away, and i ALWAYS talk to them, you have to think, there but for the grace of God, go I! Sorry i sounded so preachy there, but giving out food baskets to the needy or giving a toy to an underpriviliged kid works wonders for the heart! That was so nice, Claude!:) SPLAIN 12-06-2002, 03:07 PM Lucy and Desi were the inspiration, they gave to people all their lives, to charity, by doing shows and by giving time and money to every cause there was. What i do is insignificant, but if we all do something, then we help change this cold stressed out world! dawsongirl 12-06-2002, 03:18 PM Originally posted by Mickey Say, is Thanksgiving really like it is on TV? And it's not Christmas until I get out of school- so one and a half weeks. Barnabas1 12-06-2002, 05:10 PM Yeah, LOL! |
