"It’s Not Like That" Cancelled by Prime Video after One Season

"It's Not Like That’s" Rotten Tomatoes score will stay at a perfect 100%, and the series’ leads Malcolm (Scott Foley) and Lori (Erinn Hayes) will remain star-crossed lovers.

That is because Wonder Project’s faith-based family drama will not be getting a second season by Prime Video, Deadline has learned.




The news comes more than a month and a half after "It’s Not Like That" was released globally on Prime Video. The series is part of the streamer’s ongoing collaboration with Wonder Project, which also is behind "House of David".

Both faith-based dramas launch exclusively on Wonder Project’s Prime Video add-on subscription channel first; "It’s Not Like That" debuted on the service Jan. 25 before getting a wide release on Prime Video May 15.




The cancellation is somewhat surprising. In addition to its strong reviews, it seems to have been doing well. Prime Video is not releasing viewership numbers but it started putting out weekly Top 10 rankings and the first one, which came out June 3, featured the drama at No.9 on the global series list.

"It’s Not Like That" also has remained a fixture on Prime Video’s Daily Top 10 series list in the U.S., currently at No. 5.

Scott Foley Laments Cancellation of "It's Not Like That", Notes its Strong Reviews and Performance

A day after Deadline broke the news that Prime Video has canceled "It’s Not Like That", faith-based family drama’s star and executive producer Scott Foley shared his reaction to the decision in an Instagram video.

“After six or so weeks in Prime Video’s Top 10 — I think getting as high as like three or four — really great reviews (I think we have like 100% on Rotten Tomatoes), our little show called It’s Not Like That has been canceled at Amazon Prime,” he said, referring to the series’ perfect Rotten Tomatoes score and that it has been a fixture in Prime Video’s Daily Top 10 for TV shows since getting a wide release on the platform on May 15.



He added, “I think I’m just disappointed, obviously, but I’m so grateful for the chance. I got to make a show I’m so proud of with people I grew to like a lot, and now we don’t get to make it anymore, and you don’t get to watch it.

If you watched it, thank you, I appreciate it. If you didn’t, it’s still on Amazon Prime, you can check it out. It’s not going to change the cancelation, but I wanted to thank everybody who took the time to check it out.”



Foley ended his message to fans with a thank-you to the cast and crew.

“I loved making this show with you, and I would work with you again and again and again,” he said.
