The episode I'm going to be discussing titled, "Arts and Crass" centers Daria and Jane's struggle over creative freedom after they're encouraged to enter a statewide student art contest, creating a piece that represents high school at the dawn of the new millennium. Though the art contest claims to celebrate self-expression, we get to see what happens when you're given the illusion of choice, only to be punished when your expression doesn't quite match the vision they had in mind.
