What EXACTLY do they do? I've always wondered what exactly directors and producers do...any answers?

Producers pay the bills. :)

Directors block the action (tell people where to stand, walk, etc.). In general, what you see on the screen is thanks to the director, everything from what the camera looks at and doesn't look at, and what the people do in the scene. A lot of action is written into the script, but the directors do change it.
