I was looking over an old newsletter from 1995, and saw a box set in it called "The Finer Things." An English musician and songwriter, he was with so many bands, spanning the 1960s and 1970s:

-- The Spencer Davis Group

-- Eric Clapton and the Powerhouse

-- Blind Faith

-- Traffic

and others --

In the 1980s he had a solo career with many LPs and hits, including a couple of no.1 hits ("Higher Love" and "Roll With It")

Steve Winwood was very popular as a solo artist in the 80's when Higher Love debuted on the charts and Higher Love became his best known solo hit. But it wasn't until his 1988 album Winwood debuted that Roll With It made him a superstar and for some unknown reason Roll With It is very popular on radio stations and is very overplayed and you rarely hear Back In The High Life The Finer Things or even Valerie which was also a top hit. But if there is a solo artist that few people know the story of how he got fame just from one song alone in 1988 Steve Winwood would fit the bill
