What if you went to the restroom at a restaurant, and when you came out, your entire life had been completely deleted? You could technically say the main protagonist of this show literally pissed his life away?

In 1995, a brand-new network called UPN took the ultimate gamble on an uncommercial, paranoid psychological thriller called "Nowhere Man" (https://web.archive.org/web/20061031125344/http://www.jumptheshark.com/n/nowhereman.htm). Starring a then-unknown Bruce Greenwood and created by Lawrence Hertzog, this slow burn cult classic was hailed by TV Guide as "this season's coolest hit."

But despite its brilliant premise, a haunting score by The X-Files composer Mark Snow, and direction from horror legend Tobe Hooper, the series vanished after just one season.

In this episode of RetroScope TV, I cover the fascinating history, behind-the-scenes network clashes, and the mind-bending twist ending of television's ultimate lost masterpiece. I explore how it compared to '90s giants like The X-Files, The Fugitive, and The Prisoner, and why corporate mergers have effectively erased Nowhere Man from the streaming world today.
