I have a friend who lives in America and is taping some stuff off of TV over there and has sent me the tapes to me as I live in the UK.

Is this legal to do this?

As long as this person isn't gaining from it (i.e you paying her) then I think there's nothing wrong with a friend recording shows for you in a non-profit sense. What's illegal is someone recording a bunch of GG episodes and selling them on ebay for HUGE amounts of money.

You're right!

No it all worked out great, the tapes arrived today, and the person whos taping them is very honest and a great guy:)

Actually your not gonna get in trouble or anything but it actully is illegal to tape anything off TV even though everyone does it.

Correction: Its illegal to SELL anything you tape. You can tape for your own pleasure and personal use, but SELLING tapes is illegal. You can give them to someone, as long as you are not asking for money :)
