Popi made its debut on Tuesday, Jan 20, 1976 on CBS to compete against ABC's Welcome Back Kotter at 830pm.
The following week it competed with a soon to become hit Laverne and Shirley after ABC moved Welcome Back Kotter to Thurdays.
It finished at the bottom and the major question in early 1976 was Is Laverne and Shirley that Good or is Popi that Bad?
In early Feb of 1976 It was by the NY Post the show was cancelled after only 3 weeks but a CBS spokesman stated it was not true
By Late Feb there was no improvement in the ratings and CBS decided to pre-empt the show for the entire month of March.
That force the media to speculate and ask in Late Feb 1976......" Is Popi done?
It would be announced on March 18, 1975 that CBS decided to cancel Popi and replace it with Good Times the remainder of the season.
