Hi,
I've always loved Rhoda and The Mary Tyler Moore Show, loved the Mary,Rhoda,Phyllis interaction on the MTMS.
Rhoda is my favourite sitcom, loved Brenda, the last series of Rhoda wasn't as good as the rest, thought when Rhoda got the job in a dress hire shop, things began to go downhill, her Boss a Lou Grant lookalike!
At its best,Rhoda with the disasterous dates, comfort eating was something I can still relate to.
The Mary Tyler Moore Show was rich in characters too, pity that characters like Phyllis and Sue-Ann did not appear in the recent Mary and Rhoda movie.
I keep saying I'll get a big G(name is Greg) to put on my wall just like Mary.
Would love to hear from other Rhoda/MTMS fans.

Hi scotsguy!
Rhoda was a great character on the MTM show, and I liked especially the first two seasons of the show.

I think a person like Rhoda would be a great friend in real life, don't you? So funny and honest. Frankly, I didn't like the character of Joe whom she married - the combination just didn't work, and I agree that the dress shop episodes weren't great.

Her series was best when it focused on Rhoda as a single woman. I also thought the main supporting cast was funny. Remember the lounge singer guy who pursued her? He was so funny!

Peace ~

Rhoda is my all-time favorite show. Yes, in my opinion, it is even better than The Mary Tyler Moore Show. However, I feel that it was equally good when it focused on family matters, i.e. Rhoda with Ida, Martin, and Brenda, as it was with Rhoda's disastrous dates. Also, Rhoda and Joe and Rhoda and Carlton were great together, too. Personally, I loved all 5 years of the show, but prefer just a little bit the shows 3rd and 4th seasons that involved Rhoda's separation, dating, and divorce. Johnny Venture, the human cadillac, Jack Doyle, the cowardly lion brought to life, Benny, the king of sweetness, Sally, the spunky stewardess, and Gary, the true Rhoda friend, are all gems. This show is the rare sitcom that was as meaningful and ground-breaking as it was funny. The Honeymooners, Frasier, Seinfeld, All in the Family, The Mary Tyler Moore Show, and I Love Lucy are only comparable to Rhoda in these respects. It is a shame that its true greatness is rejected or ignored.

Recently, I just bought the "Rhoda" series, and I enjoy the early seasons w/Joe. I haven't looked at the later seasons yet, but as rhoda (member) explained, there was Johnny Venture in there. He was played by Michael DeLano. (Funny thing, since my brother's name is the same as the one who portrayed Johnny) It's also interesting, that Julie Kavner (Brenda) does Marge Simpson right now. That's a food for thought, 'Simpsons' fans. If that's not enough, Carlton The Doorman was humorous, even though not seen. Kind of like Wilson on "Home Improvement." Of course, my favorite character is, of course, Rhoda herself. Especially that Valerie Harper did it perfectly. In fact, I like her more here than on Mary Tyler Moore. Just my opinion. Too bad it hasn't aired here in over three years.
