SOAPnet READIES A NEW ORIGINAL SERIES AND SPECIAL
FOR A SUMMER PREMIERE
Network Also Acquires “Paper Dolls”
For Premiere in July
Burbank, CA (June 23, 2004)-SOAPnet, the new way to watch soaps, will premiere a new original series, “Soapography;” a new special, “They Started On Soaps 3;” and an acquisition, “Paper Dolls,” this summer, announced Deborah Blackwell, General Manager, SOAPnet.
SOAPnet’s third original series, “Soapography,” takes an in-depth look at the personal lives of today’s hottest soap stars. The half-hour series has been picked-up for 20 episodes. Each episode will include two of daytime’s most famous stars and explore the person beyond the character. “All My Children’s” Susan Lucci and Cameron Mathison, “Days of our Lives, “Alison Sweeney,” and Lisa Rinna are among the soap stars to be featured. Chuck Dalaklis and Theresa McKeown from DME will produce the series. “Soapography” will premiere in August and air on Saturdays.
“They Started On Soaps 3,” the third hour special in SOAPnet’s signature franchise will premiere on September 6. Actors featured in this installment who began their careers in daytime include Mischa Barton, Viggo Mortensen, Kristin Davis, Kevin Bacon, Ricky Martin, Kelly Preston and Marisa Tomei.
SOAPnet has acquired all twelve one-hour episodes and the two-hour pilot episode of “Paper Dolls” from MGM Domestic Television Distribution Inc. The former nighttime soap aired on ABC in 1984. Starring Morgan Fairchild, Lloyd Bridges, Mimi Rodgers, Lauren Hutton and Nicolette Sheridan, the series deals with the rich, powerful and beautiful people who fight to control a modeling empire. The series will join SOAPnet’s Dysfunctional Family Night block, starting July 17th at 10PM.
Sean Snow 06-24-2004, 08:34 PM I definitely wasn't expecting Paper Dolls, but it's a nice surprise. I'm looking forward to it. Hopefully, they'll be adding some more primetime/daytime soap reruns later this year.
Soapography seems like it'll be very interesting.
I loved the first two They Started on Soaps specials, so I'm looking forward to the third installment.

I really wish they'd get the rights to air "Sisters" again.

I second that :)
I also wish they'd pick up Santa Barbara, and some other older soaps.
*sniffles* SOAPnet gets better and better but I still don't have it. Damn the cable company! I bet whenever I do get it, approximatly 50 years from now, it'll suck to high heavens.
"Paper Dolls" is a SURPRISING acquisition! Morgan! My beautiful Morgan was on it! We'll just see what happens between now and December (we get new channels every year in December)...but I'm sure PD'll be gone by then...

If I hadn't gotten SOAPnet last Nov. I would have switched to DishNetwork, which is actually cheaper than what we are paying for our digital cable.
Hope you get Soapnet, it really is great :)

Oh hell, I thought you'd finally gotten it! Guess I'll continue crossing my fingers for you.. let's hope you do get it.
dandelion wine 06-24-2004, 11:57 PM I used to watch Paper Dolls.. nice that they're going to air it! As for Santa Barbara, there's a soap I'd love to see again.
Lady T 06-24-2004, 11:58 PM I used to love Paper Dolls when it premiered on television back in 1984..

Not yet, sad to say. The only thing the cable system here cares about is sports. We have 59 sports channels! 59!
And BTW, I was able to "have" SN from February 25 - 28 of this year when I was put in the hospital. My hospital is in another parish (same thing as county) so they have a different company. I REALLY enjoyed it! I told my nurse that she should NOT disturb me during "Knots Landing" unless she wanted to suffer the consequences!
But I keep writing useless emails to the cable company, hoping that one day I'll finally get through to them. Till then, all I can do is vent and rant! Which is great, because I'm very good at venting and ranting.

They won't give you SoapNet, but they'll add 59 sports channels? Not to knock sports.. still, not fair. ohno:
:rotflmao: I don't blame you, JT! So you're in Louisiana? That's cool. :)
Well, kudos to you for sticking to it and letting them know that you want SN added. Eventually, they'll have to listen to you. And hey, nothing wrong with ranting and venting. The Sci-Fi channel is, once again, dropping The Incredible Hulk from their lineup so I've done my fair share of that.
Chelsea 06-25-2004, 06:00 AM Paper Dolls, eh?
Round of drinks for everybody...
factsoflife 06-26-2004, 03:25 AM Rumor has it that SN is thisclose to picking up Santa Barbara as well as "a couple of currently running soaps from CBS." that is according to one of my VERY reliable sources. We'll see how it turns out.
Chelsea 06-26-2004, 03:29 AM Just as long as Dallas and KL stay on the Daily schedule...Otherwise..hehe

I read they wanted to pick up the Young and the Restless, but someone said they doubt that would happen since it's owned by Bill Bell.
I hope they pick up ATWT, the same day episodes too.

Bill Bell owns the "Bold and the Beautiful", but Sony owns "Young and the Restless". Sony also owns DOOL. Since DOOL is already on SoapNet and SoapNet's GM has stated that they really want Y&R on their line-up, I'd say it's a sure bet that Y&R will be on SoapNet soon.

Since when? At the end of Y&R it says Bill Bell Productions, he owns the show.
Hmmm I always thought he owned the show himself.
And at the end of DAYS it says Corday Productions, but Sony still owns it. Sony owns Y&R as well.
factsoflife 06-26-2004, 06:32 PM it could happen, i mean Y&R is also partly owned by Sony which owns DOOL and Soapnet did get that. never say never.
Dr. Jazz 07-08-2004, 04:14 PM Looking forward to seeing Paper Dolls again, though now SoapNet has acquired two long-running primetime soaps to be added to their weekday line-up. I've always wanted to be first to report something, but out of respect for Pavanbadal, our faithful reporter who I think is still on vacation, I'm going to wait and let him report this acquisition when he comes back.
