I have several websites on HOMESTEAD & they have lots of pages on them with lots of hard work on them. 2 of them are my CATM/Freddie & MANDO websites. Now HOMESTEAD wants ya to pay $10 a month for each site which I can't afford to pay for that. How do I transfer them to another website thingy? I can't use GEOCITES since it its filled up with all sorts of other stuff I'm doing on my sites. I don't want to use anything like TRIPOD where it has a seperate popup that as that causes puters to crash. Don't want to sue CITYSLIDE or MSN as they are not customizeable enough & MSN sometimes doesn't let me post on the message boards & it doesn't take...

What websites are out there free similar to HOMESTEAD & how do I transfer my websites to one? Thanks!

I would suggest just signing up for another Geocities account with another e-mail address - I don't think they would have any problem with that. All you would have to do is upload all your files to Geocities and then post a redirect to it from Homestead. 15MB at Geocities is quite a bit of space.

Thanks for the info ya'll! I picked GEOCITIES for the CATM/FREDDIE site & HIPPY.COM for my Arlo Guthrie site. Gotta find something else for my MANDO SITE. Now I gotta figure out how to move the stuff vasi FTP to the new sites... Lotta work LOL!

HOMESTEAD is moving to where they will only let ya have 3 pages free. Anymore pages than that costs $10 a mont. With The Freddie/CATM site & parts of the Arlo site & some other stuff on HOMESTEAD, it's bad news for me. I have a site on Geocities already, about Davy Jones of the Monkees. They allow you to have up to 3 sites, but they have to be in different categories. We will be neighbors, since I am launching a Freddie site on Geocities next week!

I do have a big problem tho... I asked on a HOMESTEAD WEBSITES message board how to transfer the pagers of the site & someone responded with the info. Works good except...

If ya try to edit the page it goofs up & says JAVASCRIPT error. Yikes! I need the ability to edit the pages ccuz I am gonna want to add links to them later on like adding another page to a section & linking the last page of the old section to it. Sigh... WHen I try to edit a page I transferred to GEOCITIES, it gives a JAVSCRIPT error & won't let me edit it. http://www.sitcomsonline.com/ubb/frown.gif

Also does anyone using CITY SLIDE know if I were to do a site on CITY SLIDE can links to my pages be listed in the links thing on the top or side of the page or do the linbks have to be to CITY SLIDE pages? Also can text be copied & then inserted on CITY SLIDE pages? If I could do all this on City Slide, the I could have some of my pages on CITY SLIDE & the rest of GEOCITES...

I am this close to having a nervous breakdown LOL! Whenver I try to log into GEOCITIES with the name I made up for my CHICO & THE MAN WEBSITE it comes up with my regular name I use on YAHOO. I suspect it may have something to do with me using the same password for both names... Sigh...

I'll be dog! It worked under good old AMERICA OFFLINE! LOL! It only worked there forawhile & noiw I can get it to log into my CATM site name anymore. It only wants to log into my regular YAHOO name. GRRR!

Anyway, when I tried to do a page a graphic didn't show up but it showed up in the wrong place on a finished product!
I think after reading you don't have to have the ads as pop-ups (an evil) on TRIPOD & ANGELFIRE, I may try one of those. Between TRIPOD & ANGELFIRE, which one is the best? Anyone know?

If you highlight and copy a page (from your editing page), then open a new file in Geocities and paste the text,maybe that will work.

Either one is fine, you may like Angelfire better because you can do a lot of customizing there, I have Tripod and it is always busy, and you will have a hard time getting into it to do some work, the reason I chose Tripod is because it is designed for beginners. (LOL) Hopefully, this may help.

Thanks for the info ya'll! maybe I'll try Angelfire. The only way GEOCITIES will let me copy the text on there is to put it in a text box & that ahs a plain white background & doesn't look so good. GEOCITES wasn't letting me witwh the CHICO & THE MAN name I made up for that site. Only letting me in with my regular YAHOO name. What a pain in the painer..

I singned up for a free website at ANGELFIRE & cannot figure out how to do it. I can't find a website editor on the site. YUCK!

I can get GEOCITES to work so my site will be on there. Since when I tranfer the pages of the HOMESTEAD site to GEOCITIES it gives JAVASCRIPT errors & won't let me edit them, I am having to re-do the pages. To save all that typing I am copying the text & inserting. I learned just now how to copy text onto GEOCITIES. It is alot of hard work. All HOMESTEADS fault LOL! I remember the GOODNITE SWEET PRINZE site think it's that one is on HOMESTEAD too. SUre hope they don't lose their site...

Right now I am laboriously copying the Death parts of his Moms book that were posted on here. After seeing all that over & over again & the sad pics I am posting with it, I may be almost ready for a good cry by the time I am done with it...

Thanks Cheryl & Bella for the compliments on my Davy Jones site. I sure hope Geocities doesn't start charging for anything in the near future! You know, it's a funny thing, the Davy site was much easier for me to put together than the Freddie site. I wanted to do something that was as accurate as possible and yet, didn't want the tone to be too sad, (although those subjects did need to be discussed). I think Freddie would have wanted it that way. Hope you guys do visit it next week. I'll post the link on the board on Thursday. I just want to do justice to the memory of Freddie. I'm sure Freddie knows that.

At the rate I am going it may be yrs before I unveil my site to the public as I have to copy it all onto GEOCITES what I have already done. & Then I have somemroe stuff that neesd to be done to add to it. Then the parts of Arlo site that were on HOMESTEAD need to be transfered somewhere else & re- copied there... Sigh...
