Sunday, June 14 marks the 50th anniversary of The Gong Show's debut. It was the only time Chuck Barris hosted one of his own creations and to me the show was mad, cracked, sick and crazy (quoting the titles of humor magazines.) It was a show I loved to hate since it was so campy and there were a lot of bad acts that deserved to be gonged. Adding to the mayhem were The Unknown Comic and Gene Gene the Dancing Machine.
