Sanford and Son is the only sitcom I can think of that had the same opening credits the entire time it was on the air. Were there any other sitcoms that never changed the opening credits?

View Full Version : Was there any show other than Sanford and Son that never changed the opening credits TVFactFan 11-24-2002, 05:59 PM Sanford and Son is the only sitcom I can think of that had the same opening credits the entire time it was on the air. Were there any other sitcoms that never changed the opening credits? Impressions 11-24-2002, 07:15 PM I'm almost sure some of the shows below have never changed their opening credits: Bewitched All in the Family I Love Lucy The Honeymooner's Sitcomwriter 11-24-2002, 07:17 PM Becker is the only one I can think of at the moment. I was GOING to say "Curb Your Enthusiasm" but it was SLIGHTLY different in episode #3 "Porno Gil". RainMan 11-24-2002, 07:21 PM Would The Price Is Right count? Archie and Edith were different clothes in the later seasons when they are sitting at the piano. TVFactFan 11-24-2002, 08:04 PM Originally posted by RainMan Would The Price Is Right count? DarleneIllyria 11-24-2002, 10:32 PM The Andy Griffith Show- relatively the same but just reshot because you can see Ron Howard getting older My Favorite Martian- not sure about this one, but I think the opening was the same except season 3 being in color DarleneIllyria 11-24-2002, 10:35 PM Oh yeah, forgot Gomer Pyle U.S.M.C. I think each opening season was the same with the marching marines. Frasier W. Crane 11-24-2002, 11:08 PM Originally posted by SOLOMON Price is right is not a Sitcom it's a game show. Common sense shoud tell someone i'm talking about a sitcom not a game show. jericho 11-25-2002, 12:44 AM Bewitched had different animation for the new Darren when he came on. If you notice, Redd Foxx has longer hair in the opening credits of the earlier seasons and later he has shorter hair. Plus, I think he does something a little different before he sits down to read the paper. I can't recall all the differences but I know that there are at least 2 versions. I will try to pay attention that. But the changes must have been really minor for me not to catch them. Barnabas1 11-25-2002, 06:34 PM I forgot The Hillbillies! Brian Damage 11-25-2002, 08:07 PM What about Taxi, Welcome Back Kotter and Too Close For Comfort. mrmikey 11-26-2002, 01:59 AM Originally posted by Impressions I'm almost sure some of the shows below have never changed their opening credits: Bewitched All in the Family I Love Lucy The Honeymooner's Bewitched had at least three opening sequences: the 1964-66 opening, which was in B&W; the 1966-69 opening, which had a cartoon of Dick York; and the 1969-72 opening, which had a cartoon of Dick Sergeant. All in the Family had a few too. It had one version of Archie and Edith for the first season (1971). A different version for the 1971-74 seasons; there was a different one for 1974-77; and then the final one (which is the one that's heard on the CD "TV's Greatest Hits: The 70s and 80s), which was from 1977-79. All four openings featured Archie and Edith singing "Those were the days." But all four were slightly different. "I Love Lucy" actually had several different openings. They all employed little cartoon stick figures of Lucy and Desi (animated by Hanna-Barbera), and they all incorporated the sponsor of the show into the opening sequence (which is why they were never shown in syndication). It wasn't until the show was sold into syndication that the show got its standard satin heart opening that we all know and love. Another little piece of trivia: the original openings didn't include the names of Vivian Vance and William Frawley. Those were only added when the show went into syndication. "The Honeymooners" did only have one opening sequence, but, then, it only lasted one season. Mike Brett Ferino 11-29-2002, 08:13 PM Clarissa Explains It All and Cousin Skeeter's credits have always sorta stayed the same. What about Mr. Belvedere? MERRY CHRISTMAS From all of us at SitcomsOnline! www.sitcomsonline.com OR www.sitcomsonline.com TV Guy 11-30-2002, 01:49 PM Both "Beverly Hillbillies" and "Gomer Pyle" reshot their opening credits in color for the 1965-66 season. Although the new openings are virtually identical to the B&W versions, there are minor differences. The changes on "Welcome Back Kotter" are minor, but during the final season, the transitions or "wipes" between city scenes are different, and the final scene under an elevated highway goes on longer than in the previous seasons. "Too Close for Comfort" had more shots of the cable cars in the first season than later on, when some of those shots were replaced by the scene of Henry and Muriel pushing the baby carriage outside the house. There were three different versions of the song itself, and during the final season, all of the shots featuring the actors were changed. "Mr. Belvedere" actually had several different versions of the opening credits. The first season or two did not have any still shots of the actors -- they were all live-action. And some of those stills were updated over the years. But in syndication, only one version of the credits is used. I'm hard pressed to think of any other shows, other than those already mentioned, that didn't change over the years. Even "M*A*S*H", which stayed pretty constant, had to make some minor tweaks when Wayne Rogers and later Gary Burghoff left. I was never much of a "Sanford" fan, and I can count on one hand the number of episodes that I've watched. Actually, I recall seeing a Beverly Hillbillies opening that included Mr Drysdale and Jane Hathaway. It was in color, but I haven't a clue as to which year it was, or if they used it for an entire season. Chocoholic 12-01-2002, 10:05 PM I think the Simpsons theme has pretty much remained the same. They just change the couch gags and chalkboard gags. Janice 12-02-2002, 01:39 AM It's not a sitcom, but (shush up Solomon ;))..... The 4th season of The Sopranos is winding down, and the opener has remained the same....Tony Soprano driving through New Jersey to that great song, Woke Up This Morning. Actually, one change was made...they cut out the shot of the Twin Towers after 9/11. :( Stormtracker TF 12-02-2002, 12:18 PM Originally posted by Mysty Eyes Actually, I recall seeing a Beverly Hillbillies opening that included Mr Drysdale and Jane Hathaway.
