There are paid membership tiers for various things at Valerie’s Place, but if I’m understanding it correctly for this podcast you just need to set up a free account, no credit card needed.

Starts June 17th

Sorry, I was wrong. It’s not free. You need to subscribe for a minimum of $2 a month to access the video podcast. First episode released today.

Still, this would be a good story to plug on the blog tomorrow for a present, like if for instance tomorrow was some universally beloved poster’s birthday.

I'll forward it as a possible blog story for tomorrow. I can't guarantee it will be used.

$2 a month is very reasonable for quality video content. It's less than a cup of coffee.

I thought there were only five seasons. I added Season Six to the top of the page. Season Six is much more expensive than the other seasons and the Complete Series boxed set.

I still haven’t seen any promotional coverage of the vidcast anywhere except for on her various social media platforms. Not even at People, who seem to follow her pretty closely at their site, and even still throw her on the cover of the print magazine every couple of years.

And, yup, six seasons.

The first episode is 48 minutes and has Todd Milliner (executive producer of HIC and who I believe will be in every episode) and Wendie Malick. I’m hoping to get to it tomorrow.

I’d consider giving each ep its own thread but I guess it depends how newsworthy I start finding each one.

For now, from the introductory episode, Wendie Malick came in to read for Joy, passed on the part, later reconsidered, and ended up with Victoria.

Now it says it’ll be hitting YouTube and Spotify at some point

Second episode had Doug Herzog, former president of Viacom. Some of you may hate him because he's the guy who started original programming on TV Land.

Some names associated with the series before the final cast was in place were Kirstie Alley, Vivica Fox, Kathy Griffin, Faith Ford, and Doris Roberts (this must have been for the Betty White role)

Third episode, and first “official” one, features creator Suzanne Martin (who I didn’t know is married to Jeff Martin, known for among other things, writing for David Letterman and The Simpsons)

Genesis of HIC involves Estelle Getty’s death bringing up thoughts that while The Golden Girls were considered old they relatively weren’t. Also how when Suzanne would return to her hometown of Cumberland Rhode Island she was considered “glamorous”.

Tidbits included that the first ever ad for HIC ran during the Betty White hosted SNL.
