As lead guitarist for the band The Beatles, George's solo musical materials are more guitar oriented than solo projects from other band members Paul MacCartney, John Lennon and Ringo Starr. And this song showcase some of his best guitar work from 1987 album Cloud Nine.

This was recorded October 2, 2001, less than two months before George died. It was written by George and his son, Dhani. George knew he was dying by this point and was too weak to play guitar on the track, but he still managed to lay down a decent vocal.

Thanks Dream, ThisLittlePiggy, 1960'sTVfan for walking down memory lane with George's song selections. Some I have heard (What Is Life, All Things Must Pass, blow away, My Sweet Lord) and some have not heard (Crackerbox Palace, cheer down).

I can only imagine how much more music and songs we had from these guys if John Lennon and George have lived to ripe old age.

This song is so beautiful it brings me to tears. Have you ever heard the Live from the concert for Bangladesh version? Leon Russell joins in with George singing it. :)

I am not a big fan of live recordings, but that had alot of soul in it. Especially when Leon Russell come roaring in.

All 3 of those are among my favorites too. I will add "This Song" (1976) and "Love Comes to Everyone" (1979).

I do. I like the whole Cloud Nine album.

If memory serves, George tried to get Paul McCartney to appear in the video, but Paul was unavailable, so he suggested to George that he use a left-handed bass player in a walrus suit. Having Neil Aspinall walk through the scene carrying a copy of John’s Imagine album (that’s the back cover) during that shot with Ringo on drums was a nice touch.

There’s a guy on YouTube who thinks the lyrics and video combine to contain a reference to every Beatles album, although he does admit he may be reaching at times. If you have 13 minutes to kill you can decide for yourself if he’s accurate or reaching.

I think he’s spot on. I’ve noticed those references, too.
