Here's the scenario. You have been placed under house arrest for the next 10 years. Shame on you! But here's the thing. You get only five sitcoms to watch during your time locked up. You have four options. Pick which option you would choose.

I picked the sitcoms (some of them include their continuation spin-offs) but then I had my computer put them into the different groups of five. So, here are your choices:

Group 1:
The Munsters
Taxi
Family Matters
The King of Queens
Wings

Group 2:
Bewitched
NewsRadio
The Many Loves of Dobie Gillis
One Day at a Time
Night Court

Group 3:
The Andy Griffith Show (Mayberry R.F.D.)
Cheers
Chico and the Man
The Office
Mister Ed

Group 4:
I Love Lucy (The Lucy-Desi Comedy Hour)
Newhart
All in the Family (Archie Bunker's Place)
The Golden Girls (The Golden Palace)
The Dick Van Dyke Show

Which group are you picking?

Don't like the choices? Maybe you shouldn't have gotten yourself put under house arrest. ;)

Probably #4. I could go a long, long time on just the Dick van Dyke Show alone. All in the Family's purely funny episodes are very funny. Lucy and Newhart have a lot of good episodes. Golden Girls, I could do without. Group 3 is probably second.

Group 2 is kind of a mirage, because it has Night Court in it. So much funny stuff, but it's hard to find a good episode.

Unbiasedly speaking, I think group 4 is the strongest. In my opinion, they're all heavy hitters. However, I'll go with group 2 mainly for NewsRadio.

I Love Lucy/Lucy-Desi Comedy Hour, The Dick Van Dyke Show, and Newhart are a stronger trio than any of the other groups. I can't stand the ugliness of All in the Family anymore, though. Wings, The Munsters, and Taxi are the next strongest trio. Have to be in the right mood for Family Matters and all the Urkel it brings, though. Too bad its original likable concept got destroyed.

I thought of you when I looked over group 4 because I know you don't like All in the Family but probably like the others. Of course, I like having shows people like and don't like mixed together. That way, they really have to think about this and which group they'd ultimately go with. These are all shows I like, but even so, there are certain shows I wish were in the same group that aren't. There are no slam dunk groups for me either.

Group 2 for me, loaded with hotties:

Elizabeth Montgomery in Bewitched
Maura Tierney in NewsRadio
Tuesday Weld, Yvonne Craig, and others in Dobie Gillis
Shelley Fabares in ODAAT
Markie Post in Night Court

I would say

Taxi
Bewitched
Andy Griffith
All in the Family
The Munsters

BUT THEY I WOULD WANT THEM ALL IN ANALOGUE LIKE I SAW THEM THEN!!

All 5 of those shows are available in analogue so thats how I would want them :)
