Did Freddie fire his first secretary Diane Rappaport or did she quit?

Joy, did you get a chance to read Freddie's mother's book? Well on page 212 of the book
it talks about Diane really caring for Freddie and she took it personally when Kathy came into his life. Then the book talked about Diane feeling that some of the decisions he was making were not his own and when she questioned him, he told her to do as he said or he'd get someone else. Diane
then cleaned out her desk and left and Carol become his secretary. Evidently Carol and Kathy had run a beauty supply shop in Reno that was not successful so I don't know what experience Carol had for being a secretary to Freddie.

yes I did read the book but I didn't think it was really clear on what happened.
I wonder,if she was fired because she tried to help or should I say make him realize that he needed help to deal with his addictions.
If that's the case it's too bad because Freddie may very well have excuse this choice of words-put the nails in his own coffin by firing Diane>
To me Diane seemed like the only true friend to Freddie besides his Mother and Jack.
Had he allowed her to stick around, help him and listen to him He 1)wouldn't have been so lonely
2)Maybe could have beaten the addictions
3)maybe would have found someone he could "really "have been happy with
4)Maybe he'd still be here today

I don't think I explained myself earlier.
About Maria's book being unclear weather she was fired or quit.
She said that Diane didn't think decisions Freddie was making were his own,and when questioned by Diane about it Freddie said IF you don't like it I WILL find someone else I don't think it actually said that he did fire her.
And later when it said she felt bad when Kathy came on the scene. That makes it sound like she quit.

You're right. The book says she was sweet on him & couldn't bear to see him marry & I think Kathy wanted Carol in there so it was probably a mutual decison. It'd be cool for her to share with us on here!

Too bad we can't find any of these people, maybe they would talk to us. Any clues on how we can track them down?

I was wondering what kind of decisions Diane was talking about that Freddie was making that were not his own. Does that mean Kathy was making them for him and what decisions?
Yes, it does sound like she quit on her own but I bet Kathy (any maybe even Freddie) made it uncomfortable for her to stay. It would be hard to work for someone you loved or cared a great deal for and know they were in love with someone else and/or making a big mistake in the process. Yes, I agreee, it would be great to talk to Diane or someone that was there at the time.

I was wondering if decsions Freddie was making were not his own were the taking the perscriptions or if they were business related,Diane tried to persuade Freddie that his career must come first
