View Full Version : Feast of "Favorites" Lineup Announced

TV Favorites
11-23-2002, 12:09 AM
Here they are in no particular order. These were taken from a press release.

Family Feud (Richard Dawson)
Friend or Foe (Kennedy)
The Joker's Wild (Jack Barry)
Let's Make a Deal (Monty Hall)
Lingo (Chuck Woolery)
Match Game 70's (Gene Rayburn)
Press Your Luck (Peter Tomarken)
Pyramid (Dick Clark)
Russian Roulette (Mark L. Walberg)
Tic Tac Dough (Wink Martindale)
Whammy (Todd Newton)
Wheel of Fortune (Pat Sajak)

I find this hard to believe. Out of 12 shows, four of them are GSN originals. Out of four original GSN series on the schedule as of now, all of them are on the Feast of "Favorites". Two of them are not on the daily schedule. Can you say rigged? Can you say ballot box stuffing? Save Tic Tac Dough and The Joker's Wild, my VCR will be resting most likely. :( :( :(

Thanks for posting this TV Favorites! I had a feeling Tic Tac Dough and The Joker's Wild would make it. I would not say that any of the voting was rigged however. My guess is that they promoted the FoF voting during the interactive games and since people who most likely fans of those shows are already at the web site, they voted. Lingo really does surprise me though. It's been rerun so much, I can't even stomach to watch it anymore until they get new episodes.

Legally, they couldn't get away with rigging the votes, but it does seem fishy that four out of four originals made it.

GSN doesn't have to account to anyone regarding the voting aside from the contest portion (which was a random drawing anyway). I find it hard to believe that there wasn't any funny business going on with the poll portion itself (with all four originals making the cut).

It DOES seem rigged. If you go to the GSN boards most people HATE the originals.I would have preferred show that were more rare like "Baby Games","Family Challenge" and MY vote "Wild Animal Games"!

It is pathetic and laughable to honestly believe it was rigged, and if you do, I am sorry for you. Of course, it is not rigged. It is VERY LOGICAL, that shows like Family Feud would make the cut, they're the highest rated shows on the network. And, it's logical that the originals would make it, because most of the people that visit the GSN website to vote also likely play the interactive games... which are interactive games of the ORIGINAL PROGRAMMING. So that makes perfect sense. It's not rigged, and it's ludicrous to think it is.

I really am glad that I will be able to see TTD and TJW, since I havent seen it since I was a kid! I hope WoF has good episodes from the shopping era, and I am surprised that HS didnt make it!

Others that I thought would make the list:

CS
J!
NG
PW
DG

Oh well........What a bust!

Gag. Same old, same old. Honestly, how sick are we all of seeing some of this crap? Too bad they didn't ask the true game show fans only, excluding the people that only play the interactive games.

I, too, am disappointed in the Feast of Favorites schedule. It's exciting to see TTD and TJW back again, since it's been awhile since I last saw those particular shows. But how in the world did the 4 originals make the list, Lingo especially, when its so fairly new, and very little episodes were made the first time around. That puzzles me quite a lot. Look, I like GSN's originals, but it seems we see them so much as it is during the day. Can't we get a view of some of the classics during the marathons? I believe the last two or three marathons we've seen have included the GSN originals in some way. Give em' a break during marathons.

I agree....It's in my view, a mechanism to promote the new shows. The "now" generation wasn't around back in the 70's when the classic shows were really popular, so the newer shows are going to be up there, when GSN should have asked real game show fans to participate. GSN should not have asked only those people who played the interactive games at GSN's website.

If I see one more old Lingo episode, I am going to vomit. What is THAT doing on the "Feast of Favorites?" Most of the shows are GSN originals like some of the above posters said.

Get old Price is Right back on GSN. (I know GSN lost the rights to TPIR, but did a little deeper into your budget and bring it back.) That show is classic stuff!

I think he meant Bob Goen, the guy from Entertainment Tonight. He hosted Wheel of Fortune for awhile.

Umm........yeah, same old PPatters

I think that that list terrible. How RR got on there is just unbelievable. I'm, howeverm glad it came in as #11 because if a good show came on then, I'd have to pick between it and AMC. It was a treat to see 80s LMAD. I also think that it was a shame that they used hourlong blocks for the shows. They could have done 24 shows instead. In that case, we could have seen "Card Sharks," "The Gong Show," and "(Super) Password (Plus)" on the list. Anyways, this is how I would have liked the hourlong blocks to have been, instead of two episodes of the same version of each show:
ALL TIMES CENTRAL

11am: "Wheel of Fortune" (early 80s episode)
11:30: "Wheel of Fortune" (mid 90s episode)
12pm: "Russian Roulette" (first episode)
12:30: "Russian Roulette" (second celebrity episode)
1pm: "The $10,000 Pyramid" (any episode)
1:30: "The $100,000 Pyramid" (any episode)
2pm: "Let's Make a Deal" (any 70s episode)
2:30: "The All-New Let's Make a Deal"
3pm: "Tic Tac Dough" (early BW episode, if available)
3:30: "Tic Tac Dough" (last Thom McKee episode)
4pm: "Lingo" (episode with Joy, the woman who set a record)
4:30: "Lingo" (any episode)
5pm: "Friend or Foe?" (first season episode)
5:30: "Friend or Foe?" (Halloween episode)
6pm: "Press Your Luck" (first Crazy Karen Martin episode)
6:30: "Press Your Luck" (second episode they showed today)
7pm: "Family Feud" (Dawson episode with his new wife)
7:30: "Family Feud" (any Combs episode)
8pm: "Whammy!" (any episode)
8:30: "Whammy!" (any episode)
9pm: "The Joker's Wild" (1972-1975 episode)
9:30: "The Joker's Wild" (1977-1985 pisode)
10pm: "The Match Game" (Early BW episode)
10:30: "Match Game 78" (I just like the 1978 episodes lol)

I would have liked the day more if it was like that.

It was nice to see The Jokers Wild again and to see Match Game as the #1 game show. Wow, how about Whammy! being chosen as the #3 show, AHEAD of Family Feud!! That was quite the shocker. Overall, it was a good marathon, but not spectacular. How about the next marathon (excluding the Snow Day marathon) they offer be without any airings of their originals. A marathon with classics we haven't seen in a few years (GO!). Then I'll be happy! :)

That had to have been the stupidest thing I've ever seen. Whammy better than Family Feud??? Please.

GSN probably just wanted to get one original into the top three.

Seeing as how it wasn't rigged, and it's stupid to believe that it was rigged, maybe it's because the VOTERS voted for it to be in the top three

And seeing as I don't care what you think, don't respond to anything I say, okay?

Unless you were the one counting the votes, how are we to believe you?

To me, it seemed stupid for Whammy to be in the top 3 because it's a revival of #5, Press Your Luck.

Maybe GSN should have a marathon where they show different versions of shows back to back.
