This week on Friday the 15th, I'll begin a computer replay of the 1990-91 NBA season. Games will be played daily using the actual 1990-91 league schedule.

Most of the time I'll be playing games in the evening but sometimes I might play them a little earlier in the afternoon. Games will be played every day except for one off day a little past mid-season at all-star break time. If all falls into place, the regular season will end on October 23rd.

Should be an interesting battle for 1st place in the Midwest division with San Antonio and Houston. Utah might be in the running also.

The Pacific division could be interesting also, with the Lakers, Portland, and Phoenix fighting it out for 1st place.

I'll post final scores of the opening night's games on Friday evening.

This should be quite a bit of fun as was the hockey season I just recently finished up.

That Bulls/Suns matchup last night turned out to be an easy win for the Bulls. Michael Jordan and Scottie Pippen pretty much dominated the game, Suns didn't have an answer for them defensively. Bulls record is now 9-2 while the Suns drop to 7-2.

The play by play text of the game can be set at different speeds, I have it set so it takes the computer about 12-13 minutes to play a full, 48 minute game, 4 quarters of 12 minutes each. If the game goes into overtime, then it takes a few minutes longer.

Minnesota played a tough game vs. the Lakers on the road in LA, but fell a few points short in the overtime.

Detroit has to be the most disappointing team so far in this computer replay as they are noticeably underperforming. The actual Pistons team from 1990-91 finished the season with a 50-32 record, while the computer team is struggling along below .500 with a 10-17 record. The difference seems to be in the defense as the computer team is not doing as good defensively compared to the actual team. Don't know why this is happening as the computer game ratings for the players seem to be pretty accurate, but the games are mostly not playing out their way. Maybe the Pistons team will start getting some better results as the season goes along, will see what happens.

When I first started this computer replay, I knew the Bulls would be good but I didn't expect them to be THIS good, through 36 games their record is 32-4, this puts them on pace to finish the season with 72 or 73 wins, compared to the 61 wins of the actual team.

Boston seems to be the Bulls main competition in the East conference. In the West, the Bulls main competition is probably the Lakers.

Boston has yet to lose a home game and is playing near .500 on the road.

If I had to predict which team would win the Midwest division, I'd probably pick Houston. A close battle, but Houston just seems to have that little bit of an edge over Utah and San Antonio. Will see where everything stands at seasons end.

Detroit still has to be the most disappointing team in this computer replay. The actual team finished with 50 wins, but the computer team is on pace to LOSE 50 games at the rate they're going. Atlanta and Indiana are underperforming also. Milwaukee is a distant 2nd place in the Central division, 9 1/2 games behind the raging Bulls.
