So Glen left because he was scheduled to be in only 6 eps for season 9 lo

I would think that Schneider would only be in 6 eps since it didnt appear to be a need for him anymore

Ann had a husband
The girls were grown and married and no longer in the apt

So he should have been in 6 eps lol

I’d say there’s only 3 episodes in season nine that would be called Schneider episodes. The rest of the time he’s around as the family friend.

Schneider had been there from the start and he was the building Super. He was annoying at times, but he served more of a purpose than Alex. Schneider is seen less in season 9 being the girls and their hubby's moved to the house, so alot goes on there and not the apt. anymore. And there are some funny moments with Schneider and Sam , Schneider gets on Sam's nerves .

I feel like Francine should be phased out by now, I wish she left with Alex.

TVFactFan is right, she's Ann's business partner. Besides, she must have taken the Alex deal because she's only in six episodes this season. And only 2 are what I would say are Francine centered plots. And I don't think she even first shows up till Christmas!

as we approach the end of the series I would say after watching for 5 months the characters I am not all that happy to see when watching is

Julie........too dramatic
Alex....too nerdy
Grandmom romano......too annoying
Max..........too annoying
Ginny......too unattractive

Everyone I was happy to watch

Mark
Barb
Bob
Schneider
Francine
Ann
Sam
The two Old characters at retirement home-more watchable than grandmom romano

Shakedown was good. Sam getting annoyed by schneider just coming in and throwing his pass key out the window. I would think schneider would be old enough to know that just coming in the door without knocking would be weird since he knew a man was living there.

And in the Take my ex episode Sam's ex-wife was Jack Tripper's older BOO thang on Three's company:lol: But I agree with Ann why the hell was she at her house. Kind of weird to have the ex-wife at the current wife home.

Yeah. Weird that Ann wouldn't have called over to the house and told Barbara or Julie. Or one of the Hubs , whoever answered the phone. Yeah. I guess it's a good thing it wasn't on regular TV for me to see. :(

Yeah generally postcards mean from a vacation spot. Alex's Mom lived in Chicago I'm thinking? So I guess he stayed with her in the summer and decided to just stay on . Kind of weird at that point leaving his friends in Indy and starting in a new school in a different city. At that point would he have been a Junior ? Or a senior even?

IDK ? Maybe he met a bunch of awesome new friends , better than the Indy crowd !

So, with this 6 episode offer for season nine, was he

- going to still be living with Ann and Sam in the apartment but only somehow be seen 6 times

- go live with Barbara, Julie, Mark, and Max but only somehow be seen 6 times

- his mother moves back to Indy and he goes to live with her and drops by 6 times (like Bob used to)

The last one makes the most sense.

Ann and Alice resembled each other a little bit. Neither of them are ugly, but neither Ann or Alice are that great looking either IMO. Ann had some cute moments at best, especially in the earlier episodes.

Schneider of course finds almost every woman to be gorgeous! He kind if comes off as desperate sometimes. Like yesterday when that woman was applying for the job at Mark's dental office, Schneider was really obnoxious and acting inappropriate towards her.

It was kind of a funny episode . The man with the bad toupee made it funny! If he wasn't in it, would have been a boring episide.

But the 8:30 one, The Travel Agent, has a guy from The Bob Newhart Show you should recognize.

I just looked at the guest stars for Baby 2 and I think I am going to like it because my retro crush makes a appearance:)

I don’t think I ever looked up Jesse before, but surprisingly, he grew up to be George Lopez.

Kidding. The biggest thing he did was 6 episodes of a sitcom in 1984 called aka Pablo. Which was the entire series. He might be the kid in the green.

Barbara's situation is similar to my 23 year old cousin who works in a baby clothing store and never went to college. So my mom keeps asking her to apply for a city job so she can get a better job and stop working on weekends, She said she dont want a office job lol I told my mom to stop worrying it about it, she is grown and if thats where she wants to be then thats her choice.

So i wonder at some point will she be like barbara and get sick of working at the store and want something better. Because life goes fast, one min you 23 and then BAMMM you 33 lol And she will still be at baby store

Yes. City jobs give more job stability. And good benefits. They will always be there. The baby shop could end up going out of business eventually. She could of course get another retail job. But working for the city would be more of a future for her. She's still young yet, has time to decide, but the years do go by fast.

My Hubby has a niece who is just content working at a beauty supply store. Has for years. She speaks fluent English and Spanish , she really could get a much better job.

Oh cool. :) And it really was a shame for the actor Michael Lembeck. It must have been stressful when Mac Kenzie had those drug issues, he never knew when he might be let go from the show and out of work. Like in season 6 when she was fired and they had to lay him off because a son in law wasn't really needed without his wife. Really wasn't fair, it was no fault of his. Glad the second time Mac was fired in season 9 , they decided to keep him.

Antenna cut out two funny scenes. In the beginning Ann kicking a wreath across the living room when she thought everyone was leaving for Christmas. And a scene where most of the cookies were eaten up too fast , and Ann and Barbara blamed each other .:D

Kind of far fetched though. Such a short notice trip. Coming from freezing Indy to a warm tropical cruise. How would they prepare so quick wardrobe wise? All their clothing for warm weather would be packed away . And you know women, we always would want to buy something new ro wear and have our hair done for a vacation. :D

Between taking off for the island for a month, buying cruise cabins willy-nilly, and keeping another apartment, by now it’s quite obvious Sam gots money. And he’s also obviously on good terms with his son. Which makes Mark’s overall poverty a bit mystifying.

This ep was almost as bad as bedtime story. schneider trying to hit on the female furniture mover who wasnt even attractive was the only funny thing in this ep

Yes a very pointless and boring episode.

Very sad episode. But a good episode. Somehow it had to be explained where Julie was. She couldn't always be at work at the donut shop . :D It didn't make her look very good though. Leaving your Husband is one thing but leaving your baby is another. Not cool. :(

I'm glad Max decided to stay.

Birthdays are always doomed for them. A store robbery and being locked in a storeroom on Barbara's birthday . Than on Schneider's birthday , Barbara finds out she can't have children. Than this sad event on Grandma's birthday :eek:0

Now you know why Ann hated birthdays.

At least they kept Julie alive. Just in case there was a 10th season there was still the possibility of the big reconciliation episode. Multi parter, of course.

And didn’t Ann say Julie considered taking the baby? How do think that would have played with the audience?

They could have had Julie just move out and leave Max, but just to an apartment in Indy.( maybe in Ann & Schneider's building) And Julie and Max have joint custody of Annie. That would be far less dramatic and make Julie seem less crazy .

They could have had Julie fall in love with another man. That would explain why she was always fighting with Max. If she wanted to be with another man. Maybe a cop she met at the donut shop. You know the stereotype that cops are always at the donut shop. Esp.it seemed she worked night time hours. So leaving Max, moving in with the new man , and co parenting Annie.

People like to write that they did what they did to Julie because they were mad at Mackenzie. But I don’t think they’d be that heartless. Addiction is a disease. You can’t be mad at someone for having a disease.

They had to write out Julie, and being from the Norman Lear factory, they just took the dramatic way out.

I like Ave' Romano . I thought it was a pretty interesting topic for an episode and funny. And did you recognize Tony Romano as playing the French waiters in other episodes?

Send in the clowns was pretty silly. I don't mind it though. I'd rather have this than a boring Ann & Francine arguing episode or a Schneider turning 50 type episode.

The only episode I liked featuring the Ann & Francine duo was the Paris episode in season 8.

Part of her not being in it much was that for the first time she co-directed the episode (also with Nearness). That probably was a lot of work for her. But yeah, as the main Romano of the show she should have been in it more heavily.

I watched it today. It was kind of entertaining. A shame this wasn't picked up as a spinoff series. I think it might have won over a younger audience with the kids in it. Really made Schneider go out looking good. So noble of him to take on his Brothers kids after his death. Maybe Schneider would have gotten together with that woman who owned the place? Finally settle down from his bachelor days. The Fortune teller lady was funny and the little dog named Dwayne  was cute ! :)

Yeah , it was fun. Went fast . Hard to believe we've been through 9 seasons already. But I will be rewatching some episodes . And bump up the seasons if I have something to add that I didn't post last time around. . :)

This episode should only be seen on DVD or on the internet by demand. Its not really connected to the series

Really on this part? I mean, yeah, most of it has him with totally different characters, but Barbara is in it, it’s all about one of the main ODAAT characters from day one, and he does come home at the end and thinks about the other ODAAT characters.

Aside from that little part with barbara in the beginning it just feels like another show. Since ANTV skipped a season 9 episode it would have made sense to skip this one instead of sisters

Oh, for sure that would be better. I’m just saying it is connected. Like the Horshak spinoff attempt on WBK. Which also isn’t good. But since it’s about a main Kotter character, still connected.

I think showing Another man's shoes was a good idea. Showing closure to the Schneider character. His focus was so on an " adoptive type family" being he was a bachelor , and his adopted family all moved out of the building . Nobody to be a "Father hen" to, which he loved. So by taking on this new role of having custody of his Brothers kids, and he felt needed in that new job in Florida.

They should have skipped, Never hire a relative, very pointless episode.

Ok that makes sense, because once the finale ended it was assumed he was still living in the building .

We were rooting for the Pacers around here since Indianapolis is where ODAAT takes place.
