An I Love Lucy Mothers Day:
(The Ricardos and Mertzes are on Miami Beach. Fred whistles at the ladies much to Ethel’s chagrin.)
Ethel: “Fred, you are too old for them.”
Fred: “No, I’m not. I’m just going through a mid-life crisis.”
Lucy: “Ricky, when is your mother coming?”
Ricky: “She should be here soon.”
(She arrives.)
Ricky: “Oh here she is.”
(They greet each other in Spanish.)
Lucy: “Ricky can I serve the cake at the Mother’s Day party?”
Ricky: “Well, ok. Just make sure you DUN’T slip on a banana peel.”
Lucy: “DUN’T you worry. I promise you she will love the cake and I won’t fall flat on my face.”
Ricky: “That is what I’m afraid of.”
(Later on, it’s the Mother’s Day party at a Room at their hotel which they rented. Lucy is eating a banana and accidentally drops it on the way to look at the cake in the kitchen.)
Ethel: “Lucy.”
Lucy: “Don’t worry Ethel. I’ll pick it up. Let’s take a look at the cake then when I go back to the table I’ll pick it up.”
(She does that but forgets to pick up the peel.)
Lucy: “Time for me to get the cake.”
(She gets the cake but slips on the peel and falls into the cake. She gets up and starts laughing then cries.)
