I don't know anyone in the family or even related to the case, but this is one of the stand out cases on UM, because no matter what theory you have, theres a dozen things that tell you that it doesn't add up.
The fascinating thing about the case is that we have a guy who was clearly paranoid, but seemingly his paranoia is maybe justified, because he ends up being murdered.
What was he running from? or what did he believe he was running from?
some people have mentioned drug dealers, but this theory doesn't add up, i mean he had a decent amount of cash and gold and whatever else that could have paid his debt off, no? and what kind of drug dealer would chase him from canada into the US, whack him and not take the money he had on him?
could he have been paranoid due to mental illness? yeah maybe, but is there any medical history of this, and it would be some crazy coincidence if a paranoid guy, running from something or someone, just happens to get murdered while running from an imaginary threat right?
it never seemed right to me that someone would whack this guy and not take the money and gold he had, i mean you've already commited murder, why not take the money?
it would be interesting to know what angle you're coming at this from. it's a fascinating case.
Dude111 05-13-2026, 04:22 PM I hope they can get Blair some recognition and find out who did this!!
Thank you for your thread :)
mwcarolina 06-03-2026, 09:18 PM Here’s hoping the case gets solved!!! I still have the theory that this was a gay relationship type of thing that went wrong

but if he was in gay relationship in canada, and we know he travelled alone to the US, based on various witnesses, border petrol, that old friend, the guy he tried to sell the car to, the fact he reserved one plane ticket, the guy who came to sort the problem out with the keys to the hire.. i mean he was alone.
you're saying some gay lover followed him into another country and killed him in knoxville?

It sounds like you may have some details from the Philip Fraser case sprinkled into the Blair Adams case here.

no, i'm trying to understand the logic of the person i replied to, she said that blair was killed because of some gay relationship...
how did that get him killed in knoxville?

Yeah, but, Blair never tried to sell a vehicle to a guy. The presumed murderer of Philip Fraser did try to sell Fraser's car to the Olsons (specifically Mr. Olson) in exhcange for one plane ticket to Seattle. No offense intended.

ahh then you're right! i don't know how i mixed this up! i remember that blair tried to cross the border, but was refused because he was alone and had a huge amount of cash (they thought he was trying to be buy drugs) so he goes to some friends home and tries to get her to go with him and try again..
for some reason i've added on something from another case!

Possible, it’s possible either his boyfriend followed him or Blair was in a love triangle and the other guy followed him.
It’s also VERY possible he had a hookup with a guy who then for some reason killed him.
I DEFINITELY think what he was running from was his drama with his coming out. The question was did it get him killed?? My guess now is no, but it’s a theory. My main theory is a hook up gone wrong

you really think a gay lover would follow up from canada, into the US, into the airport, hire a car, all the way into knoxville to whack him because he didn't come out of the closet?
we have a video of blair in the hotel reception where he looks completely wired as if he's out of his mind with panic and worry.. he was so stressed out that he misplaced the car keys and had to call someone out.
this is someone who is in deep panic...
this doesn't scream "my gay lover is trying to whack me because i wont come out"
and someone with the level of panic and anxiety that blair had, doesn't relax himself enough to go and get a manwhore...
believe it or not, 40 years ago the entire planet didn't evolve around being gay...

Key word is POSSIBLE!!! And I told you my MAIN theory is a hook up gone wrong and the reason Blair was acting so crazy was he was in some type of love triangle and was “getting away” before things got bad, then he met someone at a place (maybe a bar?) and got killed by him

i'm open to countless theories, but the idea that back in canada he's dating some guy whos angry at him for not coming out the closet, so he follows him first to border, then goes to the airport with him, he catches a flight to seattle without being seen, then he catches a flight to washington, then what? he also rents a car and follows blair to knoxville where he whacks him because of his refusal to come out of the closet?
no.
people also don't act crazy because of love triangles, blairs behaviour in that hotel reception video is someone who believes he's in mortal danger, he loses his keys at the gas station, he was so stressed and worried that he more than likely had them in some pocket and was too stressed and scared to even know or remember..
his behaviour in the hotel was eratic and strange... this isn't how people act because of a "crazy love triangle" it's how people act when they think they are about to die.
someone like thay also doesn't go looking to get laid.

Well let’s hear your theories
I personally don’t feel he was in danger, but I think HE believed he was in danger. My only guess is someone was mad at him, threatened him or something and he had a mental breakdown.
I don’t believe the person who he was running from killed him, i think it was someone he met in Knoxville likely that day

your theory, well "possible theory" is that a man traveled 2800 miles, what was it? two planes, two hire cars? from one country into another, to whack his gay lover, without being seen all because he was pissed that he wouldn't come out of the closet...
it's like some ultra woke fabulous version of planes trains and automobiles...
as for him hiring a manwhore, well again we've seen his behaviour in the hotel lobby, this is someone who is scared to death, he "lost" the car keys, which in reality, is someone who had put them down somewhere and is so scared and panicked, he's not thinking straight and can't remember what he did 2 seconds ago
a person like that, doesn't get horny and go looking for some man love, putting himself in the most vunerable situation immaginable...
as for my theory? i don't have one, sometimes being humble enough to simply say "i don't know" is best..
instead of inventing all kinds of insane theories trying to make something, anything fit...

How can you not have a theory?? Shouldn’t everyone have one on a case as mysterious as this??

The reason why i "like" this case so much, is that because no matter what theory you have, theres a dozen things that tell you that it doesn't make sense.
when it comes to 99% of the cases on UM you can come up with a reasonable theory, maybe you'd be wrong, but it adds up.
when it comes to blair adams, cindy james and charles morgan, and maybe a few others you can't really come to a rational conclusion. the problem that we have is that few people are humble enough to simply say "i don't know"
i've seen countless people here come to a theory on a case, and in order to make it fit, they've invented medical histories, future plans, relationships, complete scenarios for people who they've never met for cases that happened 45 years ago... and theres zero proof for any of it.
having a theory is one thing, reasonably trying to figure out what someone did next is great... but people are inventing entire back stories, future plans, family problems, medical diagnosis for people they've never met.
of course i don't have a real theory when it comes to blair, because nothing adds up.
the only thing we can all agree on is that he was clearly paranoid...he thought someone was out to get him, then he just happens to get murdered... thats some coincidence...
but i also don't believe that someone would have followed him thousands of miles on 2 planes, 2 hire cars to do it...
i also don't believe that someone as paranoid and scared as blair would go get a male hooker, put himself in the most vunerable situation ever, and that the male hooker wouldn't take the 1000s of dollars next to the body, right?
so no, i don't have a theory!, i dont see much point in inventing some insane theory, just to have a theory...

I think Cindy James should be left out here. Can't prove it but a strong theory is that she was engaging in another self-harm episode for attention - but simply went too far by accident.

I agree that cindy was very "problematic", there was something off about her even before this, i mean isn't there even some doubt that she invented a boyfriend who had cancer? she definitely didn't help herself, she told her parents that she knows something but can't say, her behaviour was strange..
but i think it's too easy to say she did all this for attention, her neighbors witnessed the fire in her basement and then a man outside who fled in the middle of the night, the way she was found is way too elaborate for some broad looking for attention. putting a knife through your hand is way over the top, that wouldn't be for attention, that would be something way worse.
I understand why people think that cindy did it to herself, but i still think theres things that dont add up.
when a case is very clear cut, people don't discuss it, this case is the one of the most discussed from the show.
