Bryton James, who starred on the 1990s sitcom Family Matters, is officially divorced.
The 39-year-old actor filed for divorce from Jahaira James (https://www.dailymail.com/tvshowbiz/article-15189719/bryton-james-files-divorce-family-matters.html) in October 2025 after seven months of marriage.
The former couple's marital status was terminated on Sunday, per TMZ (https://www.tmz.com/2026/04/22/bryton-james-ex-wife-files-spousal-support-post-divorce/), after the divorce judgment was entered on March 24.
Neither party was ordered spousal support as part of the split, but Jahaira has asked the court to revisit that decision, according to documents obtained by the outlet.
Jahaira, who works as a professional dancer, said her income is unpredictable and therefore needs assistance from her ex.
James – best known for his role as Richie Crawford on the beloved ABC series – earns about $34K a month, according to his ex-wife's filing.
Jahaira outlined that her profession is dependent upon live performances, rehearsals, touring gigs, and short-term contracts.
She claimed in her filing that she does not have a salaried position that enables her to maintain the lifestyle established in her marriage.
James cited 'irreconcilable differences' when he filed for divorce last fall.
The Lakewood, California-born actor and Jahaira got married in March 2025 and separated in June; they do not have children.
James requested the court to terminate its ability to grant spousal support to either party, according to a previous report from TMZ.
He also asked for Jahaira to revert to using her maiden name after the divorce is finalized.
