Ever since he first garnered national attention in the early '80s, Weird Al Yankovic and his song parodies have been a fixture of American pop culture. His song parodies have delighted a generation, and he's crossed generational lines to become a musician with an unusually high approval rating. But way back in 1996, Al decided to take a risk. After years of trying, he partnered with the legendary TV personality Dick Clark and convinced CBS to give him his own Saturday morning kids show (https://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Series/TheWeirdAlShow).
