View Full Version : ISO The Farmer's Daughter
edplattfan 03-28-2026, 09:11 PM Hi,
I am always on the lookout for 3 missing episodes and wondered if anyone has international versions. I have all but Turkish Delight, A Plague on Both Your Houses, and Glen A Goh Goh.
Spiny Norman 03-30-2026, 02:54 PM I wish, not for the first time, that people would give more details. This may all seem obvious when you know the series well, but I have no idea what year this was from and why the episodes are missing.
What's the reason for these three being so rare? Do they still exist (but have ever been released or repeated recently)?
However you may have something there when you mention international versions. I can try some foreign catalogues, although it wouldn't come for free (if at all).
edplattfan 03-31-2026, 10:17 AM Hi Spiny,
Sorry about lack of details. The show aired from 1963 to 1966. In some countries it was simply called, Katy. That was the name of the character portrayed by Inger Stevens. The show was never put to video tspe in the 70s/80s. I was told the show likely made a deal most people don't know about. It allowed tv shows to air for 25 years from the day of debut. This show aired in syndication and then aired on 5he CBN network in 1985 to 1987. It never aired again, which makes me think this show had the 25 year deal. These 3 episodes were likely controversial for a Christian based cable network. The original films are sitting in Sony's vault with a claim they can't be salvaged. I am William Windom's biographer and archivist and I am fairly certain I am the only person with all the show episodes except for these 3.
Dude111 03-31-2026, 11:52 AM I used to have a game on my Commodore64 called THE FARMERS DAUGHTER .. It was a text game...... You picked different options and depending on what you picked, different things came up... (They made it kinda nasty like sexual which could have been done without but even back then they did that stuff!!)
Spiny Norman 03-31-2026, 01:02 PM The original films are sitting in Sony's vault with a claim they can't be salvaged.A bit surprising, that. We can't know for certain, but such claims aren't always true.
But this sort of thing does happen to some shows, doesn't it. I imagine you might find some 16mm copies but it would be very difficult to get the whole run that way!
I already asked the German public broadcaster if they have any. But it remains to be seen!
edplattfan 04-01-2026, 02:44 AM Hey I appreciate it. In Germany I know it was called, Katy. I guess it was easier than translating Farmer's Daughter. I don't believe Sony's claim. This is what you may seen online as the reason the show was supposed to rerun on Antenna TV about 10 years ago. What happened was, according to Sony's archivist Antenna's marketing people made the announcement thinking the show had been put to video tape ans were available. The archivist said, why didn't you ask me before making an announcement? The show is only on film! Sort of an egg on the face moment. I've been back and forth with several Sony executives who deny owning them or another saying they kinda, sorta exist in the vaults. Believe me Ive been researching this for 6 years!

Lost the paperwork, so no luck.
It sounds to me like you have a case for research/review. You could conceivably write to NDR, a channel in North West Germany, and ask if they retained any episodes.
There were some years when one could order stuff on-demand there, but that service has been cancelled. (I asked WDR who still do, but they said they don't have any. However I doubt if that was the right channel.)
For academic reasons NDR will answer questions. Judging by old schedules, I think that they were the ones who showed it in the late 1960s.
It's a long shot. Despite their reputation for system and order, German TV channels wiped programs just as much as the rest of the world. I once found a BBC program there, but they turned down plenty of other questions.
edplattfan 04-01-2026, 08:20 PM Thanks SN! Appreciate you taking the time to help!
Spiny Norman 04-02-2026, 11:45 AM Just give them a try, is my advice. Long shot but nothing to lose.

This sounds close to what happened with the last season and a half of My Three Sons (the last half of season 11 and all of season 12). These episodes did most likely make it to videotape in the 80s, but from 16mm sources, only for Nick at Nite (and later others), but not officially syndicated for whatever reason.
And these episodes, some edited, are what we suffer with today.
Spiny Norman 04-02-2026, 04:27 PM I myself thought the 4 episodes of "Tales of the Vikings" (1958) were very good (for a children's series), so I wanted to see more of it. But absolutely nothing apart from those 4 washed-out, multigen copies ever turned up. (Although a few people seem to have 16mm kinescopes.) But I digress. This sounds close to what happened with the last season and a half of My Three Sons (the last half of season 11 and all of season 12). Some might still be around abroad. Although with so many episodes it's harder to find anything - it was shown in Germany too in fact, but that might be completely the wrong years.
Thundersteel88! 04-28-2026, 09:47 AM A fair few shows with eps i am looking for aired in Germany ...
Crossroads (1992), Codename Foxfire (1985), Insiders (1985) i would be happy with German language versions even... as i understand German and live here.
I just posted my ISO list.

I just posted my ISO list. When it comes to that: Some German channels, being public, allowed you to order on-demand for private use. Including foreign (co-)productions. I got a 9 part BBC series that way, that happened to be still in English. :)
Two drawbacks:
- Most channels have now stopped this service.
- Commercial channels never did anyway. (Like one of my wants.)
- It would still cost a lot of money to get a full season of anything.
There's a shady German download site too, but mileage may vary. Not so many off air things. I found Harry and the Hendersons there, dubbed (when it was still rare), but other things were very absent.
Thundersteel88! 05-07-2026, 04:42 PM I would be interested to know of this German d-load site... regardless of shadiness.
Never know what might appear there-
