I was just thinking about this and thought it was interesting, put it up for discussion.
Take the word "old" and put another letter in front of it, and you get a different word with a completely different meaning. For example:
bold
cold
fold
gold
hold
mold
sold
told
Also, the words "than" and "then". "Than" applies when comparing one thing to another. For example, someone might say "smooth peanut butter is better than chunky peanut butter." "Then" applies when discussing time. For example, someone might say "Meet tomorrow at 10 AM? OK, I'll see you then."

"Palindromes" are words that spell the same forwards or backwards.
"kayak" is one example of a palindrome.
"Anadromes", which are more interesting, are words that spell differently from forwards to backwards, they create two different words with different meanings. For example:
stop
pots
peels
sleep
diaper
repaid
gateman
nametag
desserts

Palindromes are more interesting when they involve a string of words. There's an old thread with them somewhere here.
Never heard of anadromes until now (won).

Sounds great! :)
On the subject of spelling words backwards, former baseball announcer Haray Caray used to spell certain baseball players last names backwards and pronounce them that way. One player I remember in particular is John Wockenfuss. For example, Caray would say "Wockenfuss spelled backwards is pronounced Ssuf-nek-cow!"

Here's something I like:
You can rearrange the letters in "No Smoking" into "Moon Kings" - !
