Eli Goldsworthy was introduced in season 10 of Degrassi and immediately became a popular character with fans. Starting off as a character with an edge, Eli is also someone that could be unpredictable, calculating, and even destructive. He’s also a character that I find interesting because of how liked he is by the fandom. Eli was also a character diagnosed with bipolar disorder, which I think made him relatable to people.
As I’ve thought more about this character, I’ve come to realize there are certain aspects of his character that might have been overlooked because of his likeability. We already know that the writers had a bias for Eli as a character as well as the Eli-Care pairing and this definitely impacted how I saw this character for a long time. I want to look at everything and see what it was that made people like his character, and what it was for me that started to lower my opinion of him. This will definitely be a divisive video, but hopefully I will make my case.
