When we had analogue cable,I was very happy I was getting it in mono because alot of stuff to me SOUNDS MUCH BETTER in Mono...

The movie THE BREAKFAST CLUB for example (1985) -- It is UNREAL how much you can hear in the background on that movie if your hearing it on CENTER MIX (True Mono)

I got the official VHS tape of this movie and it WAS NOT DONE ON CENTER MIX (Even though its a MONO movie) and you cant hear ANYTHING in the background...

Alot of people dont like the sound from stuff done on CENTER MIX,but it really is the BEST sound out there.......

I guess it wouldnt be a problem IF A MONO VCR PLAYED EVERYTHING ON CENTER MIX!! (You think it would) but mine plays left/right channel at a slightly lower volume if its not done on center mix which is stupid!!

When Drew Carey took over Price is right they ruined that music.... It WAS Mono and it was loud and nice sounding... When they made it stereo,it got softer and not as good.......

One reason mono sound louder is because left and right channel are folded into single channel (center mix) so any thing you hear like loud explosion or soft dialogue are at the same audio level (low dynamics).

But if you have stereo audio with different right and left channels (high dynamics), the sound level is not same. Dialog or softer sounds will not be as loud as high level sounds like explosion or high action scene audio. So we perceive it as audio sound being softer in Stereo than in Mono.
