"Tulsa King" Spinoff Starring Samuel L. Jackson Gets New Title after Moving Setting from NOLA to Frisco, TX; Taylor Sheridan Writing All Episodes

Taylor Sheridan‘s upcoming "Tulsa King" spinoff for Paramount+ starring Samuel L. Jackson has been officially renamed to "Frisco King" after the series has undergone a creative overhaul.

Once set in New Orleans with a pilot script by Dave Erickson, the offshoot will now be set in Frisco, TX (thus the new title), with Sheridan writing all eight episodes.




Erickson, who had been set to serve as showrunner on the new series, departed in July. No new showrunner has been named, and it’s unclear whether "Frisco King" will have one; not all Taylor Sheridan series do.

Casting is currently underway for the spinoff, which will begin filming late March in Fort Worth, TX where Sheridan and his collaborator David C. Glasser opened a production campus last year with backing from Paramount.




“We are honored to have Taylor Sheridan write the first season of Frisco King and bring to life Samuel L. Jackson’s iconic character,” said Matt Thunell, President, Paramount Television Studios.

“Having him pen all episodes of the season with his singular voice will be a treat for fans of Tulsa King and audiences around the world.”

Taylor Sheridan’s "Frisco King" Casts Asa Germann, Kai Caster, Lilah Pate & Savanna Gann as Series Regulars

The cast of Taylor Sheridan’s "Frisco King" continues to take shape with the addition of Asa Germann (The Boys: Gen V), Kai Caster (Yellowstone), Lilah Pate (Outer Banks), and Savanna Gann (English Teacher) as series regulars.

They join the previously announced lead and executive producer, Samuel L. Jackson.

Additionally, long-time Sheridan collaborators Christina Alexandra Voros (Yellowstone, Lawmen: Bass Reeves) and Michael Friedman (1883, Lioness) will direct multiple episodes, with Voros directing the pilot.



Germann will play Teddy, a sharp, savvy, entrepreneurial college dropout who gets Lee’s attention.

Caster will play Keith, a polite valet at the local Sandman Hotel.

Pate will play London, a local cheerleading goddess recruited by Lee, who’s not afraid to use her good looks to get what she wants.

Gann will play Avery, a fellow cheerleader and friend of London’s who’s also recruited to join Lee’s crew.
