I really did miss the Olsen TV era.
The 1998 sitcom Two of a Kind starred Mary-Kate Olsen and Ashley Olsen as Mary-Kate and Ashley Burke, preteen sisters with polar-opposite personalities—Mary-Kate was a sports-loving tomboy, while Ashley was a fashion-focused straight-A student.
Set in Chicago, the show followed the twins as they navigated life with their widowed father, Kevin Burke (played by Christopher Sieber), a strait-laced science professor. A central dynamic of the series involved the girls’ free-spirited nanny, Carrie Moore (played by Sally Wheeler), whom the twins frequently tried to set up with their father.
The main cast also featured Orlando Brown as their friend Max, Martin Spanjers as their classmate Brian, and David Valcin as Kevin’s best friend, Eddie. Although the series only ran for one season on ABC’s TGIF lineup, it remained a nostalgic staple for fans of the Olsen twins’ early career.
