View Full Version : I知 tired of people thinking Steve was this extremely creepy stalker

Yes he couldn’t take no for an answer. But he was only a teenage boy!!!! And the people that just constantly trash him always seem to forget about how Myrtle basically tried to rape Eddie in the kitchen (yes Myrtle did realize she was going way too far), and Myra supposedly did the same thing to Steve in the locker room at the end of Like a Virgin. I get how he led Myra on and then was all “I’m still in love with Laura” but that’s no excuse. Also, the spy cameras in Myra’s room, and sketching a naked photo of Steve alone in his room. And people (especially on Reddit) just still keep trashing STEVE. They can’t come up with any examples of Steve doing the same things to Laura—trapping her in a room and forcing her to put out, or buying secret spy cameras—all things that he NEVER did. And Myrtle also went WAY too far when it came to “getting rid” of Greta just to be with Eddie, like in the ballet episode, and the one where she tricked Eddie at the lake house. And most of the time, Steve put his feelings aside to just be Laura’s friend and protect her from the sleazy dudes that clearly just wanted to sleep with her, aka Daniel Wallace. What is with the people on Reddit? Or in that Jumping the Shuttle podcast? People really bug me.

The only time that Steve was ever really harmful was when his clumsiness came into play. If anything, he was respectful where it mattered most. I love what he said to Laura near the end of the season four episode when he drove her to Cincinnati for her cheerleader trip after she overslept and missed the bus that her friends were on. He said that he would never try to make a move on her. :) :) :)

God bless you always!!!

I definitely agree. The property damage and then simply going “whoooops, did I do thaaaaaaaat?” was one thing. Especially in the episode where Carl told Steve numerous times to get his window washing device out of the house before it caused a HUGE mess. Which it then did. Carl was totally 100% justified in freaking out for that.

But I cannot stand all the people who think Steve literally trapped Laura in her bedroom and wanted to rape her or something. While blindly ignoring what Myra and Myrtle did. And you mention the Cincinnati episode—Steve even acknowledges that he knows Laura doesn’t love him back. Again, he was just a kid! If he was a full grown adult in his 40s, then I’d be like, hmmmm.
