Gilbert encourages Beaver to show his dad a typewriter ad. At the dinner table later, Beaver does, and both Ward and June say they think it will help his school work.
Beaver discovers learning to type isn't the breeze he thought it would be. Eddie stops by, and he turns out to be a good typist. For a buck, Eddie types Beaver's assignment. Later, the teacher praises his neater work.
Eddie comes over again, but this time Beaver decides not to accept his help, and writes out his assignment. But what to do about the typewriter? Eddie offers to make it not work, but easy to fix later. So Beaver can honestly tell the teacher it's broken.
Later, at a school meeting, Mr. Bailey, the teacher, expresses to June that he's sorry to find out that the typewriter is broken. Of course, June hastens to tell Ward this news.
Ward goes upstairs to do some detective work, and Beaver explains he will work hard learning to type.
