Ever since it debuted in theaters in 1995 I have never figured out how Waiting To Exhale became a worldwide hit? I think it was because of Whitney Houston because after her debut in The Bodyguard in 1992 people thought Waiting To Exhale was gonna make Whitney Houston a superstar actress like Bette Midler did when Bette got into acting? When I saw Waiting To Exhale when I bought it I thought Whitney Houston was talented in that movie and I mainly bought Waiting To Exhale because I have been a Whitney Houston fan since I Will Always Love You debuted from The Bodyguard and I didn't even know that Waiting To Exhale was a movie adaption of a novel of the same name and I think that the author of Waiting To Exhale Terry McMillian wanted to see how the book would do as a movie. But the soundtrack to Waiting To Exhale was also a bestseller in music too and I think people were basically thinking that this movie would be a pinnacle for Whitney Houston

I also got the soundtrack to Waiting To Exhale as well and I can remember when Exhale "Shoop Shoop" was a monster hit for Whitney Houston and you can see why that song became Waiting to Exhale's theme song because if you listen to the lyrics of that song it really fit the movie like a glove. And when I saw the movie myself I was amazed at how Whitney Houston improved in her acting and when you put Loretta Devine and Leia Rochon with Whitney Houston they made a dynamic duo in the movie. And Angela Bassett shines in Waiting To Exhale and I can say Angela Bassett's character is a strong character. But you can see why Waiting To Exhale is Whitney Houston's pinnacle because after The Bodyguard Whitney was on her way to becoming a talented movie star

What also I think played a factor in Waiting To Exhale's success was that after the success of The Bodyguard Whitney Houston proved that she could be a superstar actress and with Waiting To Exhale Whitney Houston had that chance. I saw Waiting To Exhale and was very impressed with Whitney Houston's acting and I think that the author of Waiting To Exhale Terry McMillan had hoped to make more books into movie adaptions
