Highest rated episode for season 2 was Part 3 of The Runaways and finished #4 for the week. It may had something to do with Happy Days and Laverne and Shirley being pre-empted for the world series on Oct 5, 1976.
The other highly ranked episode was College Question aired on March 15, 1977 and finished #5. That was more impressive because Happy Days did air on that day but not Laverne and Shirley. Mash was #1 followed by Happy days, Waltons and Wizard of Oz. This was also day that Three's Company made its debut at 10pm on ABC and finished #27th

You’re a little off on the October dates since the World Series didn’t begin till October 16th.

Now Im confused as **** because its saying Oct 16 it started and that has to be false because you can clearly see that game 3 aired the same night as Part 3 of Runaways on Oct 12th. Let me do some more digging

Ok now I see. The paper made an error and referred to it as the WS when it was actually game 3 of the AL championship series. So the WS did start on 10/16 and it was the AL game 3 that aired the same night as Part of 3 of Runaways.

That same night Bonnie Franklin was on The Tony Orlando Show. I don't even remember that program.

I receive a copy of it years ago when Sherman Hemsley appeared as a guest. It never did well in ratings
