Every decade had a few songs that were either novelties or unexpected hits. Which songs do you remember?

Beck wrote his song “Loser” just joking around in his friend's kitchen and was singing about items he saw and then added the line “I’m a loser baby, so why don’t you kill me.” I love this song.

Hey Mickey by Toni Basil, I like it although I know a lot of people don't but obviously a lot of people do and that's why it was a hit. The record company execs didn't like it either and were refusing to release it as a single. They really hated the cheerleader chant on it and told her to remove it, but Toni Basil refused. The record company then reluctantly released it and it became a smash, so obviously Toni Basil proved them all wrong.:lol::thumbsup:
