"Mayor of Kingstown" Renewed For Fifth & Final Season at Paramount+ with Shorter Order
by Nellie Andreeva
January 5, 2026

On the heels of "Mayor of Kingstown‘s" bloody Season 4 finale, the Paramount+ crime drama starring Jeremy Renner has been renewed for a fifth.

It will be the final installment of the series, created by Taylor Sheridan and Hugh Dillon, and will consist of eight episodes, down from 10 for Seasons 1-4, with recent cast addition Edie Falco returning alongside Renner.

It has been a solid draw on Paramount+ and has steadily improved its standing with critics, going from 33% on Rotten Tomatoes for Season 1 to 100% for the most recent fourth season featuring Emmy winner Falco as a new lead opposite Oscar nominee Renner.

Still, "Mayor of Kingstown‘s" ratings performance has not been on the level of the other Sheridan dramas "Landman" and "Tulsa King".

How Mayor Of Kingstown has continued to survive is surprising to me. Because when Mom and I saw a clip of Mayor Of Kingstown it was unappealing. Now I can understand why Paramount+ is ending Mayor Of Kingstown after Season 5 because nobody really watches it and the only reason Mayor Of Kingstown got ratings and kept getting renewed was because of Jeremy Renner and who knows I think in the future Jeremy Renner will do another drama show for Paramount+. Because just like Anson Mount is with Star Trek Strange New Worlds Paramount+ thinks with Jeremy Renner he will become their top star. But I can see why Mayor Of Kingtown is ending because to put it simple it was truly unappealing
