Now that 2025 has come to a close, it's time for the annual review of Cartoon Network (https://animesuperhero.com/forums/threads/best-and-worst-of-cartoon-network-in-2025.5803348/) and its sister channels Adult Swim and Boomerang (and MeTV Toons, because why not.) Cartoon Network Studios did produce new content this year, but it was delivered in a way that was not expected.
Rather than airing on the linear CN channel (at least in the US), it premiered on Hulu! Lars of the Stars is planned to release on Prime Video and it's highly likely Regular Show: Lost Tapes will also go to Hulu for a broader audience and to get away with more taboo situations.
As for CN's scheduling, it's more or so the same as last year with a few minor alterations. Premieres are still at a lousy Saturday 10 AM slot since there really isn’t a spot on the schedule for premieres besides that. What are they gonna do, have a New @ 4 block? Lmao
This past year, Adult Swim has been giving us hit after hit after hit, however the schedule has been fluctuating from decent to mid, constantly shifting between those two. I've also noticed that the 2025 schedule has a shocking resemblance to the 2019 schedule, with a few obvious differences such as three extra hours and the new shows.
Happy New Year 2026!
When put up against 2024, 2025 had more new content but overall slightly worse scheduling and I expect the trend to continue into 2026. In the age of cord cutting, less content is premiering on television and going elsewhere and everybody knows this by now. Times change and it's just part of life. In a perfect world, streaming would co-exist with television rather than replacing it.
