View Full Version : How Important is the Bible in Your Faith Walk?
Dude111 01-01-2026, 05:20 PM I think the bible is mostly BS to control people.....
I picked 1 on the poll..
I love God very much but I do not hold much merit to the bible.... Maybe the original Hebrew Script but not this now!!
Dream Canteen 01-01-2026, 05:37 PM Not sure why you didn’t include “0” on the poll. The Bible means as much to me as any other super gross, vile book of fiction. Also, “faith” is the excuse people give for believing something fantastical when they don’t have a good reason for it.
icecream 01-01-2026, 06:58 PM You don't love the real God if you are bashing the Bible. Every book in it is God inspired writing, leading the humans who have written it. I highly recommend Lee Strobel's book The Case For Christ. He is a former atheist who did massive research that ended up supporting Jesus was crucified, he did rise from the dead, wasn't crazy saying he is the son of God, and the gospels (Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John) are highly corroborated as true. Lee writes a lot better than I ever could, he followed up with other Case For books. Mohammed, every Dalai Lama, Buddha, every Pope, all have died or will die and stayed dead. Jesus Christ, God's son, is the only religious leader who died and was raised from the dead, none of the others had that power.
Dude111 01-02-2026, 08:58 AM Ya I hear ya icecream :)
Bonniegirl 01-02-2026, 03:31 PM I voted 3, I follow the Catholic religion and we do go by the Bible but not quite as much as other Christian religions.
HuntingtonM15 01-02-2026, 07:49 PM I went to Catholic school from preschool through 12th grade. Now at age 40, it means nothing to me.
Foggy 01-02-2026, 09:20 PM I voted 3, I follow the Catholic religion and we do go by the Bible but not quite as much as other Christian religions.
I grew up Catholic and using the BIBLE can explain the "Mystery of the Trinity"
better than some Priests. :)
To answer the survey, you first have to tell us is
1-very important and 5-not at all
or
1-not important and 5- very important ????
Which way is it??

To me all religions being Christianity, Islam, Jewish or Buddha are the same and they try to convey the same message. But sadly human beings try to differentiate between them and say my religion is better than yours. And of course we see the result in the world today ohno:
:music: Imagine there's no heaven
It's easy if you try
No hell below us
Above us, only sky
Imagine there's no countries
It isn't hard to do
Nothing to kill or die for
And no religion, too :music:

Christianity is the only religion where the deity came down to save us. With the rest of them people have to be good enough to reach the so-called deity.

Don't know if you seen the movie Gandhi (1982) or not, but there is a scene where Gandhi said that when he was a child in their temple, the priest used to read from Quran, Bible and Vedas (Hindu religion text) moving from one to another as if matter not which book being read as long as God being worshiped.
And that was my point. As long as the message is the same (worshiping God and doing good deeds), it doesn't matter from which "ancient" religion or messenger is from.

There is another song by John Lennon called "GOD"
The Lyrics
[Verse 1]
God is a concept
By which we measure
Our pain
I'll say it again
God is a concept
By which we measure
Our pain, yeah
Pain, yeah
[Verse 2]
]I don't believe in magic
I don't believe in I Ching
I don't believe in Bible
I don't believe in Tarot
I don't believe in Hitler
I don't believe in Jesus
I don't believe in Kennedy
I don't believe in Buddha
I don't believe in mantra
I don't believe in Gita
I don't believe in yoga
I don't believe in kings
I don't believe in Elvis
I don't believe in Zimmerman
I don't believe in Beatles
I just believe in me
Yoko and me
And that's reality
[Verse 3]
The dream is over
What can I say?
The dream is over
Yesterday
I was the dream weaver
But now I'm reborn
I was the Walrus
But now I'm John
And so, dear friends
You'll just have to carry on
The dream is over
A controversial song in which Lennon distanced himself from what he saw as idols being worshiped by people,
including, interestingly, God and Jesus.
The song, along with a comment he made when he was still a Beatle
(that they were bigger than Jesus),
have been cited as possible motivation for his assassination.
Here is the song (4:40 long)

Well, how should we known WHICH way you chose .... (1, 3. 5, have been chosen)
with your "Bass-Ackward Thinking"
it could be either way.
Just thought it should be clarified.
Foggy 01-04-2026, 12:26 PM To me all religions being Christianity, Islam, Jewish or Buddha are the same and they try to convey the same message. They may have similarities, but different concepts.
QUESTION:
Why do ALL religions compare their religion to Christianity
(even the religions before Christianity)?
ANSWER:
Different religions often compare themselves to Christianity because
it is one of the largest and most influential religions in the world,
shaping cultural and moral frameworks.
This comparison can help highlight similarities and differences
in beliefs, practices, and values,
fostering dialogue and understanding among diverse faiths.

He did say the Bible is BS with not much merit and that he chose 1.
And now that you made me defend Dude you owe me an apology

I don’t believe in Zimmerman
Is that supposed to be Bob Dylan, or some other reference?

Not all religions are the same. Only Christianity makes the claim that salvation can only be obtained through a personal relationship with Jesus. In John 14:6 Jesus states "I'm the way, the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me." I'm a very firm believer in this.
