A I Love Lucy XMas Eve:
(The Ricardos and Mertzes are getting ready for XMas on XMas Eve by decorating the Ricardos living room.)
Lucy: “I just love this time of year. Don’t you Ethel?”
Ethel: “Yes. Too bad I am married to Scrooge.”
(Ricky laughs.)
Lucy: “I keep on thinking I am forgetting something.”
Ricky: “Lucy, you better not forget anything.”
(Ricky goes to put the stocking by the fireplace. Lucy sees this.)
Lucy: “Careful Ricky. I don’t want anything to look lopsided.”
Ricky: “Santa won’t care.”
(Ethel has mistletoe and had it over Fred.)
Ethel: “Do you know what this means?”
Fred: “It means that you are an incurable optimist.”
(Ricky laughs.)
Fred: “I’m just kidding. Merry XMas.”
(Later on at 11p, they are watching TV in the living room.)
(Lucy remembers what she forgot.)
Lucy: “Oh my!”
Ricky: “Wha happened?”
Lucy: “I forgot to tell you that the chimney is clogged.”
Ricky (yells): “WHAT?”
Lucy: “Well now. Remember I’m getting older and starting to forget things.”
Fred: “You are not as old as Ethel.”
Ricky (eerily calm): “Lucy, how is Santa going to get himself down the chimney if it’s clogged?”
Lucy: “Can’t all of us fix it?”
Ricky: “Oh boy!”
Fred: “Let’s do it. Let’s save XMas.”
(After taking a long time to get tools, it is now 11:58p.)
Lucy: “Ricky, use that stick to break it.”
(He does and gets a face full of dirt.)
Ricky: “You may have ruined XMas but you are true to form.”
Lucy: “Did you see any sky?”
Ricky: “No, I din’t.”
Lucy: “You din’t?”
(The putter patter of footsteps are heard.)
Lucy: “Oh no.”
(To be continued.)
