I usually pick up couple of these caned Tamales when at grocery store as they make an easy and affordable lunch or dinner. Served with rice and refried beans (or pasta), they make a hearty and satisfying meal. I like to add some cheddar cheese on top of Tamales for added kick :)

I LOVE Hormel Tamales and so does my dad and if you can find them on sale you can buy two or three cans of them and stock up because Hormel Tamales are great to have as a quick dinner or snack and for a while I thought that Hormel Tamales had changed their formula but my dad and I ate some a week ago and they went back to their old recipe

I used to like these , but I haven't had them in a long time. Where I live though in LA , I can get plenty of fresh homemade type tamales. . Ladies make them in their homes and sell them at little stands that they set up on the street. And friends and neighbors of mine who are Mexican make them sometimes , esp around Christmas and they share them. Delicious. But the best tamales are the Salvadoran tamales that my Husband's family make , they are bigger and more moist than Mexican tamales , also the Guatamalan tamales are great too.

I agree Bonnie it seems that I can't seem to find a bakery in my town that makes good tamales and when you do want to buy a dozen tamales the bakeries want to charge big bucks for them like $42. But my mom sometimes buys the Hormel Tamales whenever they are on sale and my dad loves eating them with me. But Walmart has some really great authentic tamales "I cannot remember the brand of them but you should check them out because these tamales taste terrific

I don't think that I ever ate homemade Tamales as there are not too many Spanish markets around my neighborhood and really don't go out to eat too often. But from look of it, tamale are probably not too hard to make at home as main ingredient are mostly beef (or Chicken or Pork), corn and wrapped in corn husk if going authentic.
