Kelsey Grammer has a new show coming to cable called "Boss." Is there anybody kinda, sorta hoping it fails? While I love Kelsey, his bread and butter is Dr. Frasier Crane. I want to see him do well, I am just holding out hope he will eventually revisit the character once again.

I don't think it's fair to expect an actor to play a character for his entire life. Let's face it, Grammar played Frasier for what, twenty years or something? That's really more than anyone can expect in terms of character commitment. I think he liked playing Frasier, but at some point he probably just wants to do something different. Reunions shows, maybe, but I seriously doubt he'd want to do "Frasier 2.0" at this point, and I wouldn't blame him.

Frasier Crane was a great character but it is nice to see an actor from a long-running series get to do something new and hopefully succeed. I wish I had Starz to check this out.

How depressing would it be for an actor to find out he is only good at playing one character? I wish him well.

I hope this show does well too, but I don't really think I'll be tuning in. Well, I don't have Starz and don't really plan on getting it but this really isn't my type of show. Then again, I did watch David Hyde Pierce in "The Perfect Host" twice and the character of Warwick was about as far away from Niles Crane as you could get (although there were a few elements of my beloved Niles!), but he was just AMAZING! Very creepy as well, but I just love seeing the versatility of an actor playing a wide range of characters.

I think Kelsey would definitely want to branch out and play different roles, just like DHP and Jane Leeves, whom I've heard turned down the role of Melanie (Valerie Bertinelli's role) on Hot In Cleveland because Joy was so different from Daphne Moon.

I do love the character of Frasier and I'm sure that Kelsey doesn't want to abandon him entirely, but it would probably get pretty boring playing the same character over and over.

When this series makes it to DVD I'll check it out because I am curious. BTW, I just saw a commercial earlier tonight for new movie staring Sarah Jessica Parker and Greg Kinnear and they showed a scene with Kelsey in it. I had to rewind and pause to see him, but it makes me want to see this movie now!
