William Pierson, a raspy-voiced movie, television, and stage actor perhaps best remembered for his roles as Marko the Mailman in the Billy Wilder film classic "Stalag 17", and for his role as "Dean Travers" in the popular 1970s tv comedy "Three's Company", has died. He was 78.
Pierson died from respiratory problems on Aug. 27 at Valley View Center in Newton, N..J.

I was surprised to hear about his death, will always remember him for his role as "Dean Travers" on (Three's Company).
His character made me laugh; especially with his laugh and his comments to "Jack" about his two female roommates.

I love Dean Travers and wish he could have stayed around longer!

That's very sad to hear that. I was watching an episode on tape last night of where Jack failed his cooking exam and he had to find a way to get Dean Travers to hear Ben admitting that he had switched Jack's dish with his.
Dean:Jack do you know what the teapot said to the tea kettle?
Jack:No What?
Dean:I am getting steamed!
