If you have ever revisited classic episodes of the Barker era on either Pluto TV or Buzzr, they used to be known for their showcase skits that seem to have all but disappeared a few years into the Drew Carey era.

In a few of those, the models didn't just pose or gesture as they actually mouthed or lip synched to Johnny, Rod or Rich's narration by matching the timing as if they were "speaking" the lines in character. It was such a fun production touch that gave the showcases a theatrical feel. To be fair, this became a thing during the Jay Wolpert era when he cleverly created many showcase skits that satirized classic Hollywood movies.

But unfortunately, the showcase skits are a thing of the past. Aside from the constraints, I just don't think elaborate sets and costumes to present the showcases would work nowadays. With that being said, today's showcases could definitely be improved with better writing and overall presentation in order to make them a bit more entertaining and differentiated.

Does anyone happen to remember particular episodes or themes where the models just did that?
