I tell ya dues,I mi$$ it so much this time of year. I miss the 80s mall which was swarming with people,Fun Arcades,GOOD christmas music,decorations and Santa in the middle. Does anyone else miss it?

Yes. I loved the malls. But there are still some around, although many have closed down, but you can still find malls around. And this time of year they are filled with shoppers, Christmas music and Santa Claus.

However it seems that outdoor malls are more popular than indoor malls these days. IDK if it is just out here in California and other warm weather climates more, and they are lovely, as long as the weather permits. Also the outdoor malls tend to have more expensive, upscale stores than indoor malls. But they also have many good restaurants too, more than indoor malls, it seems to me. But than of course the indoor malls with the fun food courts are great too.

It's amazing what has happened to the malls. Indianapolis used to have 6 major malls--the newest one opened to great fanfare downtown, in 1995--and was successful for several years. In recent years it has lost retailers, and has gone downhill--to the point that, the latest news is that all remaining stores (just a few) must be out by year's end. And it supposedly will be reconstructed and repurposed by the new owner.

Three others went thru all of that a few years back, varying by location.

That leaves two, and Castleton Square Mall, in the northern suburbs, is still successful and has one of the largest Macy's stores in the chain. Greenwood Park Mall, in the southern suburbs, is similarly successful.

A high end smaller mall, the Fashion Mall - Keystone at the Crossing, is also OK.

There is an outdoor mall in the western suburbs. I really don't hear much about that--I know its only department store anchor is JC Penney. It's essentially winter here now, so not much attraction strolling around to stores in 26 degree weather. There are a couple of other outdoor malls in the northern suburbs.

I'm sure the failure of Sears and the downsizing of other retailers, plus online shopping, has hurt the malls, too.

Yes there are still some malls but nothing good now..

Yes, I miss the malls from years ago. Most of them around me are torn down. I rarely go the mall anymore. I don't care for the shops they have. I'm disappointed in my local mall, they had the Pledge of Allegiance mural in the food court. Now they took it down and replaced it with a Welcome sign in foreign languages.

There's still a big, one-story enclosed mall in my area; the anchor stores are Macy's, JCPenney, and Barnes & Noble. Very popular during the Christmas shopping season. Sears was one of the original anchors, it sits empty. I don't go very often at all because I can find lower prices elsewhere. :)

Totally stupid and bland :(

Back around 1990 I enjoyed going to Musicland, Sears, Video Store, B Dalton Bookstore and stopping at Coney Island for a double chili dog.

We have one but, last time I counted it had to SIX shops in it, as opposed to like 15 like it used to. And ours still has a luncheonette, which I like to eat at.

Technology, trendy current day hive mind mentality ruins everything. Don't get me wrong I like some technology, but as it was in the 2000s would be fine with me, I STILL love to GET OUT OF THE HOUSE

Covid is what killed the mall concept. Sure they were losing popularity before then, but Covid and everyone going online to shop was the start of the death nail.

Ya how ppl blindly believed this garbage and tried to make us all comply!!

Those of us that saw thru this were cut down!!!
