View Full Version : If you had any regrets about Cheers, what would it be?

Is there anything on Cheers you wish would've happened?

For instance, Sam and Diane getting married, Sam and Rebecca having a baby, Frasier and Lilith having a second child, seeing Vera, Cliff getting a girlfriend, etc, etc.

The thing I regret is Cliff HAVING a girlfriend. The 3 Maggie O'Keefe episodes are 3 of the poorest episodes done.

Being a Rebecca Years fanatic, and being in the minority at that, I regret that it wasnt 11 years of Rebecca years, instead of 5 Diane, 6 Rebecca.

Granted I am a Rebecca years fan not because of Rebecca, but because I feel the rest of the cast was developed more in that time period. There were too many episodes in the Diane years which were just Sam and Diane, and everybody else was filler.

I really wish Sam and Diane got married in the show's finale. I always felt they belonged together. It was clear at that point that Sam and Rebecca were just friends, and she had moved on.
I also would have liked to see a woman in Cliff's life- perhaps someone who wore floods and white socks too. :D

I think my biggest regret... which it can't really be MY regret... but what I wish would have been different, is that I wish Diane would have stayed and her and Sam would have gotten married... although, that would have taken away from the sexual tension that made the show so great to begin with:)

I agree with the Vera thing, they had so many jokes about her and such, but never showed her.

I sort of wish Frasier and Lilith stayed married. Sam and Diane got married, and Rebecca was able to marry a multi-millionare so she could finally be happy.

A thump on the head to me for not listing this. Also, one thing that should've happened that didn't was to give Nicolas Colasanto a proper send-off after he died. Hell, I would've been happy with just a send-off of any kind.
I've had my shorts in a twist for years over this, and it's crazy I didn't list it as a regret.
I know it's goofy to bump up old threads, but humor me please. I'm bumping up the threads that discuss this subject.

Yeah, I agree... I think they should have done a better job addressing his death! There were only two references to it! And the only one that looked sincere was Diane's... but then again, Shelley was the closest to Nick out of all of them!

I regret the death of Nicholas Colasanto in 1985 and the departure of Shelly Long in 1987. Both charachters were replaced by others and yes were funny but i still loved Coach and Diane but Woody was a good move in my eyes. His Denseness and comedic timeing were great. I mean c-mon, you know you laughed ur ass off when he sang Kelly's birthday song.HAHA. " Kelly Kelly Kelly Kelly Kelly etc..... Man this was a great show! But the biggest regret i have is the fact that the show ended in 1993. I wish it could have gone on to bigger and better things. I bet if they brought the show back it would do so good in the ratings. I mean look at us, we are a clan of hardcore fans who are just relaxing and sharing our views on the show all over the country. Join me in a "Thank-you" cheers, for making our days brighter at 10pm( 11pm on saturdays and sunday HAHA) with a little Boston bar, "Where Everybody Knows Your Name"...............
